I got into huge trouble. Yeah, it is as you heard it, a very big trouble and right now I’m on my way to

my mom’s.

I need to get out of town because it’s that serious. For context, I’m a very big girl-not that huge,

but chubby, with really big breasts.

I have this friend-or should I say had a friend who is the complete opposite of me, the beautiful slender and born with a silver spoon type of girl. She had been dating a guy for the past three

years, and they got engaged last year.

But I did what no friend was supposed to do: I blurted out a secret between us because she pushed me to the point where I was so angry and said it.

Still, I shouldn’t have. But I guess I was really mad when she humiliated me in front of everyone, and I was sick of it all, her constant ridicules, so I said what I wasn’t supposed to say. Now, with the influence she has, she’s been making my life miserable.

You might be wondering what I did. Well, before she met her boyfriend Jax, Marilyn once dated a guy years back when we were teenagers, and one thing led to another-she got pregnant.

I knew about it because I would always follow her like a puppet. Once the child was born, her parents, using their influence, gave the boy up for adoption, and the guy who got her pregnant was paid off. That’s how powerful they are.

And that day, when I couldn’t take her treatment of me anymore, I blurted it all out. Now Jax-one of the wealthiest men I know, the man she’s dating-has called off the engagement.

So here I am, running away, very far, because Marilyn has been making my life a living hell.

I had called my mom and told her everything, and she had been sick to her stomach on my behalf. She bought me a ticket, and now here I was, on the flight heading to her.

Once I arrived at the airport, I got into a taxi, and it took me straight to my mom’s house. As soon as I stepped out, she was waiting on the front porch-I had already texted her that I was nearby.

The moment I saw her, I ran straight into her arms, and she spread hers wide to hug me warmly.” Thank God you’re here in one piece, Idara,” she said, squeezing the life out of me.

Once inside, I looked around. The place was spacious and warm.

“Come here, I’ll show you to your room,” she called, and I followed, dragging my luggages behind

  1. “Hope your journey wasn’t too tedious,” she added. I chuckled. “No, it wasn’t,” I said, sighing,” and she laughed.

When she opened the door, I stepped inside the room she had prepared for me, and my eyes widened. I took in my surroundings. She had even kept my old stuff.

“Oh, this was when I was a ballerina,” I said, pointing to an old photo. My mom clapped her hands together.

“Yeah, I remember how you always loved to dance,” she said. I smiled, remembering the good old days, but quickly shook my head as she sat on the bed and I joined her.

“But Idara, now that you’re here, what’s the way forward?” she asked, taking my hand. Honestly, I

didn’t know.

My eyes stung. The company I worked for had fired me-and of course, I knew who was behind it. I

had actually gotten that job with the help of Marilyn’s family and endured all the insults from her as

well.

And just for that one mistake I made, I lost my job. I lost the house I was managing. Everything.

Yes, Marilyn always insulted me and made fun of me, but I still enjoyed some privileges from being her friend-a good life I had lost just because I couldn’t contain my anger.

“Yeah, I guess I’ll just look for another job,” I said. She smiled and I did too. “Yeah, but first of all, I

need to know everything about you. What about your boyfriend?”

The smile on my face immediately died.

Yup. I lost that too. The moment Dustin found out I wouldn’t have those privileges anymore… he

left. Never looked back.

I later heard from someone that immediately after dumping me, he started dating his female best

friend. It hurt, and I guess that was another reason I left that place.

But he had always stood by and watched Marilyn disrespect me or embarrass me. And when I

complained, he’d remind me of the life I had and tell me to swallow it all.

But that day was different-or maybe I was just fed up.

“I don’t have a boyfriend,” I said. My mom’s smile faded.

“But you often spoke about…” Her words trailed off, and she nodded in understanding.

“Okay, so I guess there’s nothing to catch up on,” she added. I shook my head.

“Nope. Your daughter’s life is completely screwed,” I said, letting out a shaky laugh.

And now it’s been three weeks since I got here. I was asleep in my room when suddenly my phone rang. I woke up immediately and picked it up, not even bothering to check the caller ID.

When I heard a feminine voice say, “Is this Idara Williams?” I opened my eyes wider.

“Yeah… and who is this?” I asked.

“We’re calling to inform you that you’ve been hired for the job at Orchards Enterprises.”

Immediately, I sat upright, my eyes widening in shock.

“Oh-oh yes, I’m sorry,” I blurted out in excitement. “So when do I resume?”

“Monday would be perfect. Everything will be sent to your mail. Do have a good day,” she said, and

the call ended just like that.
