Book 2:Chapter 20-2
He sighed before continuing, “Just don’t get pregnant, and you’ll be fine.”
The words caught me off guard, and he chuckled lightly.
It was exactly what my mother had warned me about.
“I’ll take your advice,” I said quietly. He nodded.
“Damn,” he muttered, shaking his head slightly. “The scent is really potent.” I was quite confused on what to say any further, I guess it’s time I left.
“Well, I’ll be going now, sir,” I said. He nodded in response.
I left his office, and as I walked away, it finally began to sink in-little by little-that my world, my
small and ordinary world, was changing.
And it was heading in directions I never imagined it would.
Eleanor
“It can’t be,” I snapped, sweeping a stack of papers off the table. They scattered across the floor as my chest rose and fell violently.
“You need to calm down,” Calisto said from behind me.
“I will not,” I hissed, spinning on him. “Uncle, I have worked for this. I have sacrificed for this. That useless fool will not take what is rightfully mine.” My anger burned hot, sharp-so intense I wanted
blood, how dare Helio?
“Once his human mate is removed from the picture,” he said calmly, placing a hand on my shoulder, “that position will be yours, Eleanor, he’ll have no other choice but to marry you and kick Violet from being a luna.” His lips curved into a slow smile. “Even the Alpha position will be in our family,” he added. “Your son will take over.”
A smile crept onto my face as well, and I nodded.
Yes. My son.
The one who will rule when the time comes. Not that boy Julio had with his stupid mate-no. My son, Nate, will be Alpha after Helio is dealt with. After he is killed.
That is why I must become Luna.
Everything is already planned. Helio will not ruin this for us.

My son is the rightful heir to the Alpha throne. He is older, and he bears his father’s features so clearly that no one would dare question his bloodline. They would not be able to deny him-if only Julio had agreed to name my son as his successor. If he had done that, he would not have died the
way he did.
I loved him. I gave him everything I was. And in return, he betrayed me-drove the knife straight into my back. I humbled myself for him, even accepted being reduced to his mistress when he chose to marry that wretch. After all the promises he made, after all the vows whispered in secret he still refused to give me what was mine from the very beginning.
He used me.
And when it mattered most, he denied me the position that should have been mine all along.
“So how do we take them out, Uncle?” I asked, turning to face him. I wanted action, and I wanted it
now.
“The council is already on our side,” he replied with a nod. “That makes things easy, Eleanor.”
But we were lying to ourselves. There was a far bigger problem neither of us had voiced yet-Helio had awakened the Alpha authority.
