The Alpha's Chubby Obsession. novel Chapter 244

Book 2:Chapter 24

Violet

Finally, my role as Luna is secure. Not just the acting Luna anymore-the real Luna. The title is mine

now, officially.

But I know Calisto too well. He’ll move heaven and earth, pull every dirty string he has, to make

sure his precious niece Eleanor ends up in my place.

I could tell myself it’s not my problem, that I should just stay out of it.

But it is my problem. They’re coming for my title, for everything I’ve fought and bled to hold onto So yes-I should be the biggest supporter of Helio choosing his true mate over Eleanor. Anything that keeps that scheming girl out of the Luna seat works in my favor.

This position means everything to me. They promised-swore on their blood-that when my son comes of age, he’ll be sworn in as the next alpha. But promises are cheap in this pack. I can’t just sit back with my hands folded, pretending everything will be fine. Something deep in my gut whispers there’ll be foul play ahead, some betrayal waiting in the shadows. And I’m not about to risk my son’s future on blind faith.

Still… I have another problem, one that’s eating at me worse than Calisto’s schemes.

Ever since this morning’s council meeting-ever since Helio awakened that full alpha authority- every time I look at him, I don’t see Helio.

I see my husband.

The same sharp jaw. The same commanding presence. The same fire in his eyes that used to make my knees weak. It’s like the power he’s claimed has pulled Julio’s ghost right back into the

room with us.

I need to snap out of it. I have to.

Don’t forget the gate you built around your heart, Violet.

Don’t let yourself like him. He has his mate now-his human, fragile little mate.

And most importantly… he is not your husband. He will never be your husband.

I need to remind myself of the hate I have for him.

A sharp knock came at the door. I turned my head toward it.

“Yes, you may enter.”

Book 2 Chapter 24

Rita, one of my maids, stepped inside and bowed low.

“It seems Alpha Helio is in heat,” she reported quietly.

My eyes widened as I rose from my seat.

“So what are they doing about it?” I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

Claim

Helio in heat? That was a first. In all the years I’d known him, not once had he ever gone into heat. But I suppose everything changes when a true mate is found.

“I heard his mate is on her way,” Rita answered.

I nodded slowly.

“Okay, Rita. When she arrives, come and call me.”

She gave me a small smile before leaving.

I really wanted to see this mate of his-this human-and what she looked like.

Just curiosity. Nothing more.

He’s in heat…

Suddenly my face went pale. It had been so long since I’d felt anything like that myself. How I

wished Julio were still here. How I wished he hadn’t died.

I only ever saw my husband’s corpse. No one ever told me what really happened. They just said he

slumped over and died, nothing more.

Yes, before that day he’d been having some slight health issues, but nothing serious enough to kill

him so suddenly.

They didn’t even let me examine his body properly. They rushed to dig a grave and buried him six feet under without any kind of proper ceremony.

I kept asking myself why they were so desperate to hide his death from the pack. I couldn’t come

up with a single reasonable explanation. The one they gave me was pathetic beyond words:

“So the pack doesn’t go into a frenzy.”

Of course it would. Their alpha was dead.

Rita had long since left. Then she returned, bowing quickly, out of breath. She didn’t need to speak -I already knew. I followed her without a word.

As we got closer, I caught the scent. A human among us.

Book 2 Chapter 24

I stopped behind a thick pillar so she couldn’t see me.

There she was, walking beside the butler. A woman in her mid-to-late twenties, average height, chubby, with… how could one person have breasts that huge?

I studied her for a moment.

She wasn’t bad-looking, if I’m being honest.

She moved with the butler toward Helio’s room.

I let out a quiet sigh and turned back to Rita.

“That one had better prepare herself,” I said, shaking my head. “I don’t think she’ll live long.”

Poor thing.

Clain

Now that she’s Helio’s wife, her entire life is in grave danger. All I could do was send her my pity as turned and headed back to my room.

Julio / Helio

Her sleeping form looked so peaceful-eyelids softly closed, chest rising and falling in slow, even

breaths. A stark contrast to the storm raging inside me.

I stared at her for another long moment before sitting up abruptly, the sheets sliding off my bare

skin.

It was time. Time to protect what was mine.

I could feel it deep in my bones-Calisto would waste no time. He’d dig up every piece of her past, every person she’d ever known, every weakness he could find, all to tear us apart. But I wouldn’t let

that happen. Not while I still had breath in my body.

I slipped quietly out of bed and reached for my phone, fingers hovering over Danae’s name. Then I

stopped.

No. There was a better way now.

I closed my eyes, shutting out the room, the faint scent of her on my skin, the distant sounds of the mansion. I focused inward, reaching for the new power humming in my veins.

As the alpha now… I should be able to do this.

“Danae,” I called silently, pushing the word through the mind link.

A beat of surprise, then her voice came back clear and amused in my head.

“Ohhh, so you can do this now?”
