The Alpha's Chubby Obsession. novel Chapter 245

Book 2:Chapter 25

Idara

Clair

I woke up feeling completely drained. My lower back ached like hell, and I couldn’t even move properly at first. When my eyes finally adjusted to the dim light of the room, I just lay there staring blankly at the ceiling, replaying everything that had happened.

Me at the office. Mrs. Lucy bursting in. Being rushed to this mansion. Finding him-Mr. Chestert naked, in heat, fangs out. And then… us having sex. Yeah. That’s exactly why I felt like I’d been run

over by a truck.

He’d fucked me like an animal.

Well… technically, he is one.

I managed to push myself up into a sitting position and glanced around. The room was empty. No

sign of him.

My eyes dropped to the floor-my clothes lay in a ruined heap, torn to shreds. What the hell was I supposed to wear home?

Home. Oh God. What time was it? Mom was going to freak out.

I scrambled off the bed, yanking the bedsheet around myself like a makeshift toga. My phone- where was my phone? No, wait. I’d left it at the office. I hadn’t brought anything with me.

I hurried to the window and peered out. The sky was already dark-evening had come and gone. Mom was definitely going to kill me. Especially if she found out I’d come here to… sleep with the man she’d gone pale about when I first mentioned him.

Just then the door opened quietly.

In walked none other than my supposed husband.

He was dressed casually now-a plain T-shirt and grey sweatpants. His hair, usually sleeked back so perfectly, was tousled in a boyish, almost messy way.

The composed, authoritative Mr. Chester was gone. In his place stood someone softer, someone I

didn’t recognize at all.

No… honestly, none of his behavior today felt familiar. The innocent way he’d acted, the desperate hunger, the tenderness after-it was all new.

His eyes dragged slowly over my body, taking in the sheet wrapped around me, before he finally

spoke

Book 2 Chapter 25

“You must be hungry.”

Claim

Right on cue, my stomach let out a loud, embarrassing growl. Damn… how hungry had I actually

been?

“What time is it?” I asked quickly. I was probably going to have to ask him for clothes too.

“Past 8 p.m.,” he replied.

Oh no.

“I have to go,” I said, voice already rushed.

“No, you don’t.”

The words caught me off guard. I stared at him like he couldn’t possibly be serious.

“Yes, I do. My mom will be sick with worr-”

He cut me off gently.

“Your mom is aware you’re here. She’s not worried in the slightest.”

I blinked at him in surprise.

“It seems you’d already told her about me,” he continued. “When she kept blowing up your phone, I

picked up and answered truthfully. She warned me not to get you pregnant.”

My mouth fell open. “She did what?”

He nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips.

“Yeah. I had your things brought here from the office. You’ll be going to work from here tomorrow.”

He pointed to a nearby table. There sat my bag, my phone, everything.

I hadn’t even noticed it before.

“Thanks,” I blurted out, walking over to check. My eyes scanned the familiar items, relief mixing

with confusion.

He followed quietly, stopping right behind me. I felt the warmth of him before I even turned.

“I’d like to ask you a question, cutie pie,” he said, his voice suddenly deeper, more serious.

I turned to face him.

“Who is Marilyn… and why is she looking for you?”

My eyes widened. Did Mom tell him about Marilyn too?

No, she wouldn’t. So how the hell did he know that name?

As if reading my mind, he answered calmly.

“Because when I dug into your background, I discovered you fled your former place.”

I felt irritation flare up. “And you couldn’t discover why I fled?”

Clain

“No,” he said honestly. “I just wanted to know you-really know you-before anyone on the council does and tries to use it against you.”

I raised a brow. “And who are these ‘council’ people?”

He studied me for a long moment, clearly debating how much to say. Finally he answered, voice

low.

“Those who might not like that you’re my wife… and who will try to kill you for it.”

I stared at him, stunned.

“Excuse me?”

The look on his face told me he wasn’t joking. Not even a little. He nodded slowly, eyes steady and

serious.

I swallowed hard, throat suddenly tight.

“So you’re saying… my life is in danger just because you marked me?” My voice came out

high-pitched-on purpose. I wanted him to hear how ridiculous, how terrifying this sounded.

“I’m sorry, Idara,” he started, voice low and rough.

But I didn’t want apologies. Not now.

“You’re sorry?” I cut him off. “You’re sorry that you marked me, knowing they’d want me dead?”

My mom had been right all along. About everything.

“Yes,” he admitted, not looking away. “I know it was selfish of me. But I couldn’t stop myself.”

I stared at him, anger boiling up so fast I could barely breathe.

“Couldn’t stop yourself? That’s your excuse?”

He took a small step closer, hands raised like he was trying to calm a wild animal.

“But I’m the alpha, Idara. And I promise-I’ll protect you. Even if it’s the last thing I do.”
