I took a shower and changed into something fresh-his shirt. It smelled like him, warm and familiar,

and it fit me perfectly, like it was always meant to.

When I stepped into the bedroom, the aroma of food filled my nostrils, rich and inviting, and I didn’t

hesitate before moving to the table.

He was already seated. His eyes lifted the moment he saw me and followed my every movement,

slow and intent, like a predator watching its prey.

I sat opposite him, lowering my gaze to the plate in front of me.

“Do you need help cutting the steak?” he offered.

Seriously? I wasn’t that helpless. I shook my head. “No, I can do it myself. Thanks.”

He nodded once, saying nothing more, and I dug into the food, my mouth watering.

It tasted incredible-the kind of meal you’d expect from fine dining. I ended up eating more than I

usually would, unable to help myself.

All the while, I could feel his eyes on me, sharp and unblinking. It still felt unreal that he wasn’t the Mr. Chester everyone spoke about, that he was actually Julio’s twin. I wanted him to explain everything-to make it all make sense-so I ate faster than I normally would.

He barely touched his own food. I noticed, but I didn’t ask.

When I was finally done, I reached for a glass of water and swallowed it down, feeling pleasantly

full.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked.

I nodded. I was more than okay-almost on the brink of bursting.

“You should eat more,” he said.

I raised a brow. “That’s my limit.” Did he want me bigger than this?

As soon as I straightened in my chair, he spoke again.

“Do you want to hear it now?”

I nodded immediately. I wanted to understand him-the man, the werewolf, the one who had tied

his life to mine.

When the Luna of the Pavilion Pack was diagnosed with twins, the pack fell into disarray.

“Honey, this is bad,” Alpha Clinton said, pacing the bedroom while his wife watched him. “If it were

a boy and a girl, it would have been better. But two boys?” He shook his head. “It has never

happened. It doesn’t bring balance to the pack.”

Lara rubbed her belly gently. To her, there was no problem at all. These were children she had

created with the man she loved.

“Calm down, my love,” she said softly.

But nothing she said soothed him.

“If the pack finds out we’re having twins, it will divide,” Clinton went on. “And when they grow, they’ll fight over who becomes heir.” He stopped suddenly, his eyes darkening with an idea. “Or…” His lips
