Book 2:Chapter 28-1
Third person’s pov
And so, at night, Helio and Danae would slip out together, dressed in dark clothes that allowed
them to blend seamlessly into the crowd.
Clair
Each night, she led him through the pack lands and into the town beyond, showing him a world he had only ever imagined. She taught him things no one else had ever bothered to, how to observe people, how to listen without being seen, how to understand life beyond stone walls and locked
doors.
With every passing day, the boy grew more curious. And with curiosity came questions, about his life, his existence, and the reason he had been brought into the world at all.
During those outings, Danae told him about the pack, about its structure, its rules, and the most important people within it: the alpha’s family.
She told him the truth, that he was the son of the Alpha.
At first, the boy couldn’t understand it. If his family was so important, then why had he been hidden away all his life? Why had he been locked in a place where no one knew his name?
It was then his sister explained.
In a pack, there could never be two alphas. And because he had been born alongside his brother, their father had chosen to lock him away in the mansion, erasing his existence before it ever
began.
That knowledge made Helio believe he had never been wanted. And that night, he cried himself to
sleep.
At sixteen, on one fateful day, the very day he was meant to shift for the first time, the entire pack and mansion erupted in celebration. It was the coming-of-age ceremony of his twin brother.
It should have been Helio’s day too.
Instead, he spent it alone in the quiet comfort of his room. When the clock finally struck midnight, his body burned and broke as he shifted for the first time. He collapsed afterward, breathing hard
from the exhaustion.
Then he heard it-the roar of celebration outside. Cheers, shouts, voices echoing through the
night.
“Our future Alpha has shifted!”

Book 2 Chapter 28-1
Helio closed his eyes, knowing none of it was meant for him.
But then his door suddenly opened.
Claird
Helio was still on all fours when he lifted his head. Standing there were his sister, Danae, and their
mother. She hadn’t visited him in a long time, and for a brief moment, he wondered why she was
there now.
He turned his attention to Danae as she stepped closer and ran her hand through his fur.
“It’s so beautiful,” she said, smiling from ear to ear.
Helio dipped his head slightly, accepting her words.
Their mother remained where she was, silent and distant. To Helio, she wasn’t important-no more
than he had ever been to her. He barely knew the woman anyway.
“Congratulations,” were the only words that left her lips before she turned and walked away.
They didn’t affect him. He had Danae, and she was genuinely happy for him. That was enough.
The next day, as Helio sat reading his book, he heard footsteps approaching. His nose caught the scents immediately-his father, his sister, his mother… and another.
Another that smelled disturbingly like him.
He stood, his gaze fixed on the door just as it opened. They walked in one after the other, and the last person to enter froze Helio in place.
The boy had the exact same face as his.
Helio wasn’t shocked. He had seen pictures before. He knew what his twin looked like.
But the same could not be said for Julio.
Shock was written all over Julio’s face as he stumbled back a step, staring at Helio as if he were
seeing a ghost.
