Helio didn’t come to the office today, but just as my mom had said, I wasn’t going home for now.

The moment I finished work, Mrs. Lucy walked up to me. She was the one assigned to escort me

to the mansion. As we stepped outside, she spoke first.

“From now on, I’ll be escorting you from work to the mansion. Those are the Alpha’s orders. You

are not to follow anyone else.”

She stopped and turned to look at me, her expression daring and serious.

“Take this seriously, Idara. Peradventure anyone comes to you and says Mrs. Lucy couldn’t make it and that you should come with them, that’s your cue. You’ll know immediately that they’re not one

of us.”

I nodded sharply, swallowing hard.

Since I was already in this, I had to be careful-play smart and do my best to stay out of trouble.

We began walking again until we reached the parking lot.

When we arrived at the mansion, I was immediately escorted to his room. I knew everything was moving too fast, all because of my safety, but I couldn’t help feeling exhausted.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there was still something I needed to talk to Helio about. I wasn’t going to keep quiet about the fact that his fiancée had called me on the phone… just to warn me.

Once we stepped into his room, I expected to find him there, but Mrs. Lucy spoke first.

“The Alpha isn’t back yet, so for now you’ll wait for him,” she said with a soft smile.

I nodded. She bowed slightly, then excused herself and left.

Alone in the room, I took a deep breath. The air smelled so strongly of him-it felt like he hadn’t

been gone for long.

My gaze drifted to the bed, and memories of yesterday came rushing back. Heat rushed to my

face, and I quickly looked away, lifting my hand to my cheeks.

“Get a grip, Idara,” I muttered to myself, though I couldn’t stop the smile that crept onto my lips.

Then something else caught my attention.

I walked over slowly to where my luggage had been placed. All my things were there-every single

one of them. So this was it. From now on, this place was where I would be staying.

The thought settled heavily in my chest.

I decided to freshen up first, which I did, changing into something lighter and easier to move

around in.

A sudden knock sounded on the door, and my heart skipped, thinking it was Helio. But he wouldn’t

knock-it was his room.

“Come in,” I said.

The door opened, and a woman walked in, followed by the boy I had seen yesterday-his nephew…

and his sister-in-law.

The moment our eyes met, she smiled gently. Helio hadn’t told me much about her-whether I was

meant to befriend her or keep my distance, so I felt a little awkward, unsure of how to behave

around her.

But the boy… the way Helio talked about him, anyone could tell he loved him dearly.

“Hi,” I managed to say with a small smile. She returned it.

“Hello. I’m sure you’re quite surprised to see me here,” she said.

I nodded.

“Perhaps you know who I am?” she asked, while the boy remained behind her, half-hidden.

I nodded slowly. “His sister-in-law… the Luna,” I said.

She raised a brow.

“He told me you’re his twin’s widow,” I added as softly as I could.

She nodded. “I see. So he’s told you the big secret they’re all trying to keep.”

I wasn’t sure if she was serious, but it sounded amusing, and I let out a small chuckle. To my

surprise, she laughed too. Almost immediately, I noticed her relax. It seemed I wasn’t the only one

unsure of how to act.

Truthfully, she didn’t look like someone dangerous or cruel. She looked more pitiful-like a woman who had been carrying too much on her shoulders for far too long, burdens heavier than she was

meant to bear.

I crouched down and gave a small wave to her son. Slowly, he stepped out from behind his mother and bowed politely, like a little gentleman.

A wide smile spread across my face. “Hello, Julian.”

He smiled back. He looked so much like Helio that if no one told you otherwise, you’d think he was his son. But then again, Helio was the spitting image of his father-an identical twin.

He sat across from me with a smile plastered on his face, but smiling wasn’t the reason I’d come here today.

“You look better than the last time we met,” he said, handing me a glass of spirits.

I took it from him and swallowed a mouthful.

“So how did you know I was around?” he asked casually. “Are you stalking me?”

I raised a brow. “Are you some damsel worth stalking?”

He burst out laughing. “Well, you could be interested in me. It’s not new for men like you to go after other guys.”

Jax’s words immediately soured my mood.

“Even if I were gay, I doubt you’d interest me,” I said flatly.

He laughed harder, like I’d just told him the best joke of the night.

“But-“I continued, my voice dropping, turning serious.

His laughter died instantly.

“Why are you stalking my wife?” I asked.

He stared at me, genuinely startled. “What wife?” he said, clearly confused.

I studied him for a long moment before calling her name slowly, deliberately.
