Book 2:Chapter 45-1

“Is what the Alpha saying true? Does Eleanor have a son for the late Alpha Julio?” one elder
screamed at Calisto.
“A bastard cannot take the place of our true Alpha!” another snarled, clearly referring to Julian.
Violet simply sat there in silence, watching everything unfold with calm detachment,
Before Eleanor could fire another question through the mind-link, I slammed it shut. Instantly, a
wave of distress slammed into me-not mine, but Idara’s. It grew stronger by the second. I turned
sharply to Danae, who was already pulling out her phone.
I reopened the mind-link, this time only to her.
“Something is wrong with Idara.”
Danae’s eyes widened. “It seems that the friend you told me about is at her mother’s place right
now.”
I exhaled sharply, forcing myself to stay calm. “Go handle it immediately. Call the guards I
stationed there-make sure not a single hair on my mother-in-law’s head is harmed. And call Idara.”
Danae rose without another word and hurried out to carry out my orders. I tried not to let Idara’s
fear consume me.
“Have you gotten everything you wanted yet?” Calisto asked, his voice dripping with mockery.
I turned to face him fully. “No. Not yet. Not until the one who killed my brother is dead.”
The entire room fell deathly silent.
“So you’re accusing me of killing my own Alpha?” Calisto demanded.
I smiled slowly and addressed the whole council. “Did I point a finger at anyone when I spoke about the one who killed my brother?”
Every head shook.
Yet all eyes now locked on Calisto. For the first time in my life, the old man looked rattled. He swallowed hard, a thick lump visibly moving down his throat.
“Then why did he immediately assume I was talking about him?” I asked the room. Another round of murmurs erupted. I raised my hand and silenced them.

I turned to Eleanor. “And why is your heart beating so much faster than usual, Eleanor?”
She stumbled back a step.
“Or was it you?” I continued. “Did you poison him?”
“You’re talking nonsense!” she burst out.
“Don’t you dare drag her into this!” Calisto barked.
“Why?” I tilted my head. “Because she’s the weaker one and will break first?”
I pulled out a thick file and dropped it onto the table with a loud slap.
“When my brother died, no one did anything. You all called it shameful, saying, ‘he died on top of a woman. Imagine our Alpha dying during mating.’ You laughed at your own Alpha for dying during sex.” I looked slowly around at every council member’s face.
And they all dropped their heads in shame.
It is not like what Julio did was right but they had belittled him, the one they claimed to respect.
“No autopsy was performed. And Calisto here,” I pointed directly at him, “suggested he be buried immediately without any investigation, so no one would suspect foul play.”
The old man’s face had turned to stone.
