Chapter 61
We invited them into the receiving room where we were all seated. The Alpha was the only one
missing.
“Excuse me for a moment, I need to bring my husband,” Luna Olivia said before stepping out.
Not long after, Osborne’s phone rang. He glanced at the screen and stood. “Hey, I’ll be right back,”
he said, slipping out to answer the call, while I was alone with my parents and Clara.
“I should probably tell you everything now that we’re alone,” my mother began, her eyes fixed on
But I shook my head. “There’s no need. It looks like you’ve already been through enough.”
She smiled faintly, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “But you still deserve to know how it all
came about”
Again, I shook my head. “The Alpha already explained what he did to you, so I understand-at least to a degree. But it’s not me you owe answers to. It’s her, at least I have vented my anger on you
already.”
I gestured toward Clara. “She’s the one you need to explain yourself to. I know it couldn’t have been easy, Mother-you look like a woman who’s had to make hard choices. So let’s not push it any
further.”
Her expression softened, and this time her smile seemed a little more genuine. “You really have grown, Aina. Marriage has truly changed you.”
I smiled back, noticing my father nodding in agreement beside her.
And then, the sound of the doors opening broke the moment.

When Olivia came for me, she simply stood over where I sat. “Come, your in-laws are here,” she
said.
I nodded slowly. To be honest, I didn’t want to meet anyone-I wasn’t sure I had the strength. Still, I
rose to my feet, and we started walking out together.
“Why didn’t you send someone to fetch me?” I asked her.
She shook her head lightly. “And where’s the fun in that?”

Was something going on? Was Aira’s husband probably making a scene? If he is, I totally
understand him.
When we reached the receiving room, Olivia opened the door and stepped inside with me. The
moment we entered, everyone rose and bowed their heads in respect-Aira, her husband, even
Aina.
But one person did not. She remained standing, unbowed.
That was when I stopped walking.
Without anyone telling me, I knew exactly who she was. It felt like I was staring at my younger
self-only in a female form. She was composed, steady, but her eyes were locked on mine.

The heaviness I’d carried about not wanting to see anyone vanished in an instant. No wonder Olivia
had come to fetch me herself.
“Hi,” the young woman greeted, her voice calm, while silence hung in the room.
“Hello,” I answered, and she gave a small nod.
“Please, you all may sit,” Olivia said, breaking the stillness. I lowered myself into a chair, though my eyes flicked first to Aira’s husband, he didn’t look upset, thank the goddess, then to Aira herself. It seemed I wasn’t the only one feeling conflicted at this moment.
“Thank you for coming here today,” I began slowly. “And… I’m sorry it all came to this. I believe my mistakes are what caused these misfortunes.” The truth was, I didn’t even know what else to say.
Before I could gather my thoughts further, Osborne walked in cutting in. “What’s done is done. We just need to find a way forward.”
I turned sharply toward him. “I was still speaking.”
He shook his head lightly. “I know you, Father. You run short of words. Just apologize and get it
over with.”
A few chuckles rippled around the room. Annoying as it was, he knew me too well.
“I’m sorry,” I said at last, my voice flat but firm enough for everyone to hear. “To all of you-Aira, Mr. Wilfred, my wife… everyone.”
Yet my gaze lingered on the young woman. The way she sat-composed, unflinching-she looked more like an Alpha than I ever had. How was it that all my children carried a weight of authority I
myself had failed to hold?
“If that’s it,” Aira spoke up, “then I’m glad. Because truthfully, I’m tired. And I don’t want the media at

This morning was already exhausting.”
Too soon for the media to go trouble them, I would have to take care of it. “Okay,” I answered.
Turning back to the young woman, I asked, “And may I know your name?”
She smiled at me, calm but firm. “Clara Maximus.”
