Alpha Samuel Bowers.
I wish that Natalie was here under different circumstances, that we didn’t have this dark cloud hovering over us, but she was here and that’s all that really matters.
I told Mark to meet me in my office so he should be here soon. I know you’re all wondering why my brother isn’t my Beta, well I became Alpha at a very young age and my brother, well he was even younger, I couldn’t put that on his shoulders, so I chose my best friend Mark as my Beta.
I mean this whole thing is just crazy, my mother used to tell us bedtime stories about the men that wished for immortality and the bloody things that they did to get it and then how the werewolves and the witches formed an alliance in order to bring them down.
I mean in my head I knew that it was real but at the same time, I didn’t expect something like that to happen again, but it’s here now and it’s happening.
There’s a knock on my door and Mark walks in, he’s a cheery fellow, always has a smile on his face.
“You voice sounded really urgent, does this have to do with the delivery of dead bodies that I saw heading down to the morgue?” He asks me.
“Yea it does, take a seat.” I tell him and the smile immediately slips from his face and he looks serious.
“What’s happening Damon?” He asks me.
“Well, to cut a long story short we have a killer on the loose.” I tell him.
“A killer?” He asks, looking confused.
“Well, about a month ago a couple of decapitated bodies washed up to the shore, the killings didn’t seem like wolves did it so I let it go to the chief of police but he hasn’t been having any luck so he asked for our help again. To look and see if we missed anything, now when I first saw the pictures, it was of different body parts and the cuts looked precise, like they were made by someone very skilled with a knife.
But the second set of pictures that he sent to us, the parts had been put together and that’s when I saw the marks on them.” I tell him and then I hand him a manila envelope with the pictures inside.
I wait for him to look at the pictures and then I see it on his face when he realises what we are dealing with. “No, that can’t be possible.”
“That’s what I also said, but I mean, it’s looking right at us. Plus a wolf was found last night in the same way, body washed up at shore, markings on the body. The wolf was from Moon Shadow Pack.” I tell him.
“If this is what we think it is then we have to warn everyone, and we also need to get help. Last time this happened…” He trails of.
“Yeah the last time something like this happened the witches helped, but that was centuries ago. Now you know the kind of relationship we have with the witches, to call it strained would be a compliment.” I tell
him.

“I know that, but it doesn’t change the fact that we need their help.” He tells me.
“I know that, but the witches will have to wait for now.” I tell him.
“Ok, so what are we doing in the main time?” He asks.
“We work the problem, I already have a coroner checking on the bodies and hopefully we’ll get some leads there. I need to go speak to Alpha Thomas, find out more about the wolf that was killed, maybe if we know where he had been it can also help.” I tell him.
“Ok, that makes sense, so what do you need me to do?” He asks me.
“I need you to get the pack ready for an attack, beef up security, put in more guards at the exits. I want to have a meeting with the other Alpha’s first then I’ll address the pack.” I explain to him.
“Ok, that’s not a problem, I can do that.” He says.
“Also, since I’ll be gone for a while, I’m going to need you to make sure that the coroner, make sure that she has everything that she needs.” I tell him.
“Of course, I’ll hold down the fort here. But are you sure you don’t want to stay here while I go and talk to Alpha Thomas?” He asks me.
“As much as I would like that, I have to go there myself.” I tell him and he just smirks.
“Well hopefully Yara won’t be there.” He says and I so desperately want to tell him what’s going on but I hold my tongue, it’s not my secret to tell.
“Yeah, hopefully she’s not.” I say and then he gets up from his chair.
“Everything is going to be fine Damon, if this is what we think it is, then we caught it in time and we are definitely going to catch whoever is behind it.” He says.
“Yeah, I hope you’re right.” I tell him and then he nods his head and leaves the office.
I grab my keys and then I make my way out of the office, I’m about to head out the front door but then I hear something I haven’t heard in a long time, the sound of my daughter laughing. I follow the sound of her laughter and it leads me to their playroom.
I don’t go in though, I stay by the door and watch as one of Natalie’s boys, Clayton I think, he’s making silly faces at Sophia and she’s laughing so hard that her face is red, she looks so happy.
Blood. Axel growls in my head.
“What do you mean Axel?” I ask him.
Blood. Is all he says again.
I just shake my head, he’s always like this whenever I’m around Natalie’s boys.
With one last look at the kids, I turn around and make my way out of the house, it’s time to get to work.
