We left Silver Crest Pack, but not after Shawn pulled Natalie aside and whispered something to her, I mean if it wasn’t going to cause a war, I was all but ready to rip his hands out of their sockets.

“So, where are we going now?” Natalie asks me as we get into the car.

“I say we go to the apartment first see of we can find anything there leading to the Nox Group.” I tell her and she nods her head but she also looks deep in thought.

“What’s on your mind?” I ask her as I pull out of the driveway.

“Nothing, it’s just the Nox Group, the name sounds familiar or maybe I’m just in my head.” She says trying to brush it off.

“Maybe you heard someone mention it, don’t worry just relax, it’ll come to you.” I tell her and she nods her head and actually gives me a little smile.

“You know that look you had just now, Sophia gets the same look on her face when she’s trying to figure something out.” I tell her.

“Really? And what look would that be Alpha Bowers?” She asks me.

I turn around and I press a finger to her forehead. “Right here gets wrinkled and that dimple that you have on your jaw becomes more pronounced.” I tell her and I can tell she wasn’t expecting me to touch her so I take my hand back.

“Oh, I didn’t know that.” She says, sounding out of breath.

“Yeah, it’s cute.” I tell her and she clears her throat.

“So how exactly are we going to get into his apartment? We don’t have a key.” She says, changing the subject.

“You are right Ms. Edmund, but we won’t be needing a key.” I tell her.

“Why not? We can’t just break in, I mean that’s an offence.” She says and I hear her worry.

“No, we aren’t breaking in because I own the building.” I tell her.

“Oh, well you should have just led with that.” She says and I chuckle.

“I wanted to see you spiral a little.” I tell her.

“Ha, ha, very funny Samuel.” She says and I smile but I don’t say anything, she called me Samuel and she wasn’t chastising me and I didn’t ask her. She’s starting to get comfortable around me.

“What is it with packs and arranged marriages. I mean this is the twenty first century for crying out loud.”

“I know but not all packs share the timent, I mean most Alpha’s believe in the old ways, they believe

that if we let go of those traditions, then we lose sight of what it means to be a werewolf.” I tell her and she nods her head and I can feel her staring at me.

“What about you? Do you agree with them?” She asks me.

“I believe that there are some traditions that we should hold dear, those things that are core to us are wolves. For example, the new moon festival. But things like arranged marriages, no I don’t agree with that.. I mean they only made sense back then because we didn’t have the resources that we have now.” I tell her and she just hums and doesn’t say anything else.

“What you don’t like my answer?” I ask her.

“I didn’t say that.” She tells me.

“But you made a sound.” I tell her.

“Well it’s just there’s more to you than you show, that’s all.” She says and then she brings out her phone, but I know she’s just pretending, this whole conversation got too close and she’s doing her best to put her walls back up.

We make it to the apartment building and the doorman opens the door for us.

“So you own this whole building?” Natalie asks me as she turns around and admires the lobby.

“Yes, this one and the other two next to it.” I tell her and her eyes nearly bulge out.

“Are you some kind of mafia king?” She asks me and I laugh, like a full blown laugh because I didn’t expect those words to come out of her mouth.

“No Natalie, I am not a mafia king. I’ve just made some really wise business decisions and I’ve also been very lucky.” I tell her and she nods her head as she continues to scan the place with her eyes.

The receptionist comes over and hands me a card to the penthouse.

“Let’s go.” I tell Natalie and she follows behind me and we both get into the elevator and I scan the card.

We’re both quiet as we wait for the elevator to get to the penthouse but I know that she has thoughts running through her mind about me.

I thought when I told her that I owned all three buildings she would judge me but she surprisingly did not.

The door finally open, into the living room of the penthouse and the whole place is trashed and it reeks of

alcohol.

“That smell of alcohol is fresh, definitely not a week old.” Natalie says.

“Yea someone was here.” I tell her.

“More like multiple someone’s and they are still here. Listen.” She tells me.

I listen like she says and she’s right, apart from the two of us, I hear three other heartbeats. “It’s coming from the bedroom.” I tell her and she nods her head.

So we make our way down the hallway, following the sound of the heartbeats and then we open the door to the bedroom only to find three naked bodies passed out on the bed, a guy and two girl and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what they were up to.

“You think the guy is Jeremy’s friend?” She asks me.

“I would say so.” I tell her.

“Well, why don’t you do the honours.” She says to me.

“Wake up!” I growl so loudly that the windows shake and all three of them shoot up from the bed.
