NATALIE.

The next day, I was just driving out of the house after dropping the boys off with my neighbour when I got a call from Yandel.

As soon as I answered the call, Yandel’s grumbling voice sounded over the phone. “Miss Edmund, when will you be arriving?”

I looked at the traffic and answered, “I’m on my way. I’ll be there in about half an hour.”

“Okay. I’ll be waiting for you. The man is weird and really difficult, I don’t know why you’re interested in him, he doesn’t even seem intrigued by my generous offer to work as the company’s R&D director at all,” Yandel said guiltily.

“You don’t have to persuade him to take on your offer. Just stall him for me.” I tell him.

“Ok, I’ll do my best, but you should come over here quickly…”

“I got it. I’ll be there soon.” I tell him and then I hang up the phone and continue driving.

Dream Pharmaceutical was a pharmaceutical company established by me three years ago. As I wished to keep a low profile and hide my identity, I had appointed Yandel as the CEO of the company, while I took on the role of the chairman.

You see after what was done to me, I made a vow, that I would never be weak or caught off guard again. In all these years, I’ve never given up on making myself stronger. Besides, I’ll never forget Granddad and Mother’s dying wishes.

I got to the company and I drove down to the underground parking garage and put in my palm print and the gates opened and I drove in and parked my car.

The view of Dream Pharmaceutical was astounding. Through the glass doors, crowds consisting of employees and visitors were seen everywhere within the building.

Right as I was about to make my way in, a couple left the building’s lobby and walked right in my direction.

All it took was one glance for me to recognize them.

They were Yonah Hermann and Natasha Larson.

But I should’ve known that it was all a ruse, people are never that kind to you unless they have an ulterior motive and a year later I found out the truth.

I found out that Natasha was his fiancée and he had toyed with my feelings out of Yara and Natasha’s request.

It has been six years… I never thought that I’ll be meeting them here.

Holding hands, Yonah and Natasha walked past me while chatting jovially.

But I recognised them and I remembered them, I had half a mind to find out what they were doing in my company and reject them, but that wasn’t why I was here today.

It was clear that they were one of Dream Pharmaceutical’s clients. They’re digging their own graves. But there’s no hurry. I’ll deal with them for everything they did to me when the time.

I entered the building and used my fingerprints to unlock the first access control gate. Unlike the crowd who were queuing to get into the elevators, I walked straight toward the VIP elevator that could lead one to the top floor.

Because of my hearing as a shifter, I could hear the gasps and whispers behind me, especially from the receptionists.

“Is she trying to use the VIP elevator?”

“Is she new? Doesn’t she know that only the people with the highest–ranking position can unlock it with their fingerprints?”

“Don’t mind her. She’ll behave and queue just like everyone else once she fails to unlock it.”

The elevator opened and I could hear their shocked gasps behind me, but I didn’t stick around to hear what they had to say, I had a meeting to get to.

The elevator reached the thirty–sixth floor, where the CEO’s office was located.

“Mr. Moss instructed me to wait for your arrival.” Jonty, Yandels assistant tells me.

I nodded in response. “Is he still here? Has he left?” I ask him.

Jonty shook his head. “He hasn’t left yet. Mr. Moss managed to deceive Ross to come over here. However, Ross wants to leave after realizing that, Mr. Moss was just stalling him, I think he suspects something.” He tells me.

“I’ll head over there now.”

I knocked on the CEO’s office door before unlocking the door using my fingerprint.

The sight I saw once I pushed open the door was Yandel sitting on the floor while clinging to Ross‘ leg with all his strength to stop the latter from stepping out of the office. If this wasn’t a place of business, I would’ve burst out laughing.

Yandel’s face turned pale upon seeing me. The next instant, he loosened his grip on Ross‘ leg and rose to his feet, brushing the dust off him.

“Good heavens! Miss Edmund, you’re finally here!”

His shamelessness a while ago vanished completely as he now exuded a distinguished aura that a CEO should possess. He then raised his eyebrow. “Mr. Ross, please forgive me for my recklessness just now. The real boss of this company is here to see you.” He said.

I closed the door behind

When I looked at Ross, I froze. Six years ago, we had an encounter when Ross was twenty- eight years old. Back then, he was an outstanding and dashing man. However, now, he looked decadent and lifeless. The stubble under his chin had turned into a fuzzy beard.

I sized him up. In the meantime, I could tell that he was doing the same thing to me. I’m sure he was wondering, who exactly I was?

“Mr. Moss, are you calling a little girl to persuade me after failing to do so yourself?”

Men, always looking at women as the weaker sex when we all know that the opposite is true, I mean just look at the state of him and all because of a woman.

Yandel was furious upon hearing this. “Please have some respect. Who are you calling a little girl?”

“Who else could it be aside from her? You?”

“I dare you to say it again. I’ll throw you off from here!” Yandel threatened him.

Not only had Ross‘ elegance diminished, but he was also filled with pricks and wariness now.

I glared at Yandel. “Yandel, don’t be rude to Dr. Trevor.”

Ross scoffed, “Dr. Trevor? It’s been years since someone called me that.”

I walked toward Ross and said slowly, “One will only realize how wicked the people around him are once he falls into the abyss. It’s true that you were once betrayed by Belle Green. However, do you wish to stay like this forever and let her watch you succumb to despair? Don’t you want to rise from the fall and fight back?”

He pursed his lips and stared me with shock and bewilderment in his eyes.

“How do you know about my past?” he asked.

“It doesn’t matter how I know about it. What’s more important is your intention. Do you wish to crawl out of the abyss and get back to the top?” I clenched my fists as I spoke.

My own words to him, reminded me of my situation.

I felt hate run through me, as I thought of the twins, my sister’s betrayal, and the bunch of wicked people having control over the company managed by my mother and grandfather.

“Even if you and this man want to hire me, will the chairman approve?” He asked.

“Why not?” I answered him.

“I’m the one who founded this company. Nobody will dare to go against my decision.”
