The distance between us was too close. Moreover, Samuel’s exquisite facial features were very alluring and his voice were doing things to me and it also didn’t help that Leila was all but ready for me to thrwo caution to the wind and jump his bones.

I had to tell myself and her repeatedly to keep it together. Yet, I could feel my face burning up as the blood rushed to my cheeks.

I don’t like him. I definitely do not like him. Maybe if I said it multiple times, the more I would start to believe it.

No matter what the twins‘ mother was like, Samuel had children with her. That meant they had a special relationship. Furthermore, Samuel was close to Yara. It was possible that they had an unspeakable relationship.

Aside from that, no man would find my freckled face charming. This was clearly a game that he was playing with me and I wasn’t going to fall into his trap.

I placed my hand against Samuel’s chest to stop him from coming any further. “Alpha Bowers, your jokes are getting out of hand. You could easily get any woman you want. Don’t tell me you like women like me? My freckles are hereditary. They will get worse as I age. Are you sure you won’t get disgusted by them?” I asked him, if he was playing a game; I was going to turn the tables on him and win.

I was not trying to mock herself. Instead, I was trying to annoy Samuel.

“I won’t,” he deadpanned.

My eyes widened as she raged, “Are you blind?” I mean he can’t be serious, I’ve seen my masks, I know what I look like.

“What do you think?” He retorted, his gaze locked on my face. “Beauties get hit on by too many people. It’s better to be slightly ugly. That way, no one would hit on you.” He says with a smirk on his face.

“You-” I could not even finish my sentence. I was utterly defeated by his logic and at the same time, felt so

insulted.

Did he damage his head or something? Or is it because he has seen too many beauties that he finds my hyper–realistic mask fresh and unique?

“But do you know…I mean don’t you remember….” I paused halfway through my sentence.

“Remember what?”

“You really don’t remember do you? You are just so concerned about only yourself.” I tell him.

“What are you talking about Ms. Edmund?” He asks me.

“Do you not remember that I’m a mother?” I asked I moistened my lips and glared at him provokingly. “It seems like you don’t remember. Well, I have not only one, but two sons.” I remind him.

A glint of anger flashed through his eyes when he heard my words.

“You don’t even know me well, and you know nothing about my past,” I stated, taking the chance to push him away. “So don’t try to use the children’s liking toward me to make me their new mommy and give them a complete family. Blood is irreplaceable. I’m not their mom. Moreover, I have my own children that need my care.” I snap at him.

I mean I knew he was egotistical and misogynistic, but I didn’t know he was this self observed. I mean no wonder he felt that it was alright to come and get me in the middle of the night, he actually forgot that I had my children. What an asshole.

He was clearly irritated that this wasn’t going his way but I on the other hand, didn’t give a fuck.

He might tolerate the ugliness, however I did not believe that he could bear with the fact that I was the mother of two children.

“When did this happen? Is your sweetheart their father?” he questioned.

“Does that matter?” I questioned back. “What matters is that I did not lie. I have, in fact, given birth to children. Two children who need me.”

“Natalie.” He snarled.

I poked him on the chest. “Alpha Bowers, I advise that you get rid of the thought of building a family with me. If you want to let Franklin and Sophia grow up in a complete family, you should go and reconcile with their mother. I have to borrow your guest room again tonight. Good night.”

With that, I turned away without even looking at him and then he grabbed my arms and spun me around to face him.

His eyes had turned gold and he was breathing heavily. “Make no mistake Natalie, you are mine.” He growls and then he let’s go of my hand and storms out of the room.

What has come over him? I’m not his, I do not belong to him.

I put my hand on my chest because my heart was beating so fast. I took a few deep breaths and steadied myself before I went up to the guestroom.

I took a hot bath the moment I got back to the guest room.

Wearing the hyper–realistic mask was stifling and suffocating. After throwing it in the basin, I then entered

the bathtub.

I never imagined that Samuel would be willing to use his good looks to charm an ugly woman just for the sake of his children, but it’s what he said after that still haunts me.

I once thought that Samuel’s love for Franklin and Sophia was too rigid. Now that I thought about it again,

I felt that I had misunderstood him.
