NATALIE.

My body was clearly tired and so was my mind, dealing with Samuel wasn’t easy with the way he switched his moods on me. After my bath, I laid down on the bed and it wasn’t long before I drifted of to sleep.
Now I was being woken up by the sound of incessant knocking on my door.
“Who’s there?” I called out, by the sound of their heartbeats I already knew who it was but still.
“Natalie, it’s me and Sophia.” The owner of the voice was Franklin. “You’re awake? Can we come in?” he asked me.
Shocking, the kids were also early risers like my boys, the similarities between the four of them were just glaring, but maybe it’s just me seeing what I want to see.
“Sure!” I tell them as I sit up on the bed.
Just as I heard the sound of the doorknob twisting, I suddenly remembered the hyper–realistic mask that I had left in the bathroom. Hurriedly, I got up from the bed and went to collect it and put it on. That was close. I mean I’m used to waking up without it.
I was greeted by the twins just as soon as I exited the bathroom.
Franklin lifted his head and greeted me energetically. “Good morning, Natalie.”
Sophia, on the other hand, showed me a piece of paper. The words good morning was written on the paper using crayons. There were even pink petals drawn on the sides.
The twins were really something.
Franklin was domineering yet endearing. He was the embodiment of a young master.
Sophia, on the other hand, was adorable and smart. Her cuteness made everyone’s hearts melt.
Although I had rejected their suggestion for me to move in, I could not deny my desire to get closer to
them.
“Good morning, Franklin and Sophia.”
I saw this as a good opportunity to try something with Sophia. I bent down and took her tiny hands in
mine.
“Sophia, how’d you sleep?” I ask her as I look into her eyes and she just nods her head.
“Ok, that’s good, I slept really good too, the bed was so soft. Can you say good Sophia?” I ask her and she immediately gets a sad look on her face.
“It’s ok sweetie, you don’t have to say it, not right now anyway, whenever you’re ready alright.” I tell her and then she nods her head and smiles.

I stroked each of their heads. However, I soon realized that the action was too natural.

It was as if my lost pair of twins were right before me and that tug in my chest was so strong.
I realized that this was why I wanted to give Franklin and Sophia the best love and care I could. I wanted to make up for her past regrets, the fact that I wasn’t there for my babies and Theo can’t seem to find them, it’s like Yara has them hidden somewhere.
As I brought the two to the dining room for breakfast, I bumped into Samuel, he acted like it didn’t happen and he just walked to his chair and sat down.
I sat down and smiled at Samuel. “Good morning, Alpha Bowers.”
Memories from the night before flashed through my mind, well one memory in particular, when he called me his.
I did not care whether Samuel was doing it for his children or whether he was trying to flirt with me out of boredom or how it made me feel.
I had made herself clear.
I was convinced that Samuel could forego my ugliness, but I would not believe that he could also endure the fact that I had children.
He took a sip of his coffee as his gaze met mine “Good morning,” he greeted indifferently.
After seeing his attitude toward me, I felt relieved, this was the Samuel that I was used to.
I came back after five years to get back at the Nichols family and to get my children back. Getting into any unwanted business was not part of my plan.
Halfway through our breakfast, Gavin came to report to Samuel after receiving a phone call. “Alpha, Ms. Yara called to inform that her film crew has let her off for half a day. She said that she’ll arrive half an hour. later.”
I was cutting out a slice of cake for Sophia when I heard this news and the shock of it made me exert to much force and I broke the plate into two.
The sharp end of the plate grazed the back of my hand as it rebounded.
Immediately, blood seeped out from the fresh wound and started flowing down my hand.
I was still dumbfounded as everything happened too suddenly,
I did not feel the pain from my wound, because my mind was so wrapped up with the fact that Yara was coming here. Did something like that happen often?
Were she and Samuel that close? Why did that make me angry though?
I bit my lip as I proceeded to force a slight smile. “I… My hand slipped.”

Samuel, on the other hand, took my hand in his and turned to Gavin. “Bring the first aid kit right now.” He
ordered
Gavin hurriedly obeyed and went to look for the kit.
Samuel glanced at me coldly. His voice was unusually hostile as he said, “Why are you so careless?” Was he worried?
“It’s not that painful,” I retorted.
“What do you mean it’s not painful?” Hel asked, his eyes filled with tenderness. “I feel pained just by looking at it.”
His words successfully made my heart skip a beat. I stared at the man before me in a daze.
Why do his words sound as if they have an alternate meaning? Is he worried for me? That can’t be, right? I look hideous. On top of that, I have two sons. Why is he still so sweet to me?
At that moment, Gavin brought the first aid kit and handed a bandage to Samuel.
Samuel took it and pressed it onto my wound. “Is it so painful that you’re spacing out now? You can cry if it hurts,” he said with his gaze fixed on me.
Pain?
To be honest, I wasn’t so sensitive to pain.
I grew up in the countryside, and since I didn’t have a father, I was often bullied by others.
Soon, I grew numb to it.
I used to have a mother who was worried for her. However, after my mother’s death, no one cared for me
anymore.
Yet, at the moment, I could see the adoration that Samuel had for me.
I almost allowed myself to be drowned in the affection. However, the thought of Yara’s relationship with him pulled me back to reality.
“I’m not as weak as you think I am, Alpha. Bowers.” I tell him as I snatch my hand away from him.
