Whatever game he was playing I wasn’t going to fall for it. He clearly had something going on with Yara and he was here acting like this towards me, it wasn’t fair.

There’s nothing to worry about,” I said as I took the bandage and pressed it onto my wound. “I’m still equipped with medical knowledge despite being a coroner. I know the state of my injury very well. Plus I’m a wolf or have you forgotten that we have great healing abilities?” I ask him.

He narrowed his eyes as he looked at me with those same caring eyes but this time there was confusion.

“Why won’t you let me take care of you?” He asked and he actually sounded hurt.

I looked from him to the children who also had concerned looks on their faces. “Because like I said Alpha Bowers, the cut isn’t that bad. I just need to apply some pressure, then it’ll stop bleeding and then I can dress it. Besides I’m used to taking care of myself. Don’t worry about me, you have a guest coming.” I tell him and immediately the expression on his face changes, he looks angry.

Why is he angry though? Is it because I don’t want him taking care of me? Or because I brought up Yara?

He looked like he was about to say something but he just shook his head but he didn’t leave my side though.

The children, tired of being on the sidelines also came to my side. “Are you okay, Natalie?” Franklin asked, shooting a resentful look toward Samuel. “He’s a thirty–year–old man, so he acts too presumptuous at times. Don’t let it bother you.”

Did this five year old boy just use the word presumptuous. Wait a minute, did they think that Samuel was hurting me?

Sophia could not say anything. However, her eyes were visibly red. She looked like a vulnerable and pitiful bunny.

“No, no, don’t say that Franklin. Your dad did the right thing. I just like taking care of myself by myself that’s all.” I tell him and he just nods his head but he still glares at his father.

I was touched by the actions of the children. Slowly, I shook off the mixed emotions I had because of Yara and Samuel.

“Don’t worry, Franklin and Sophia. I’m fine,” I reassured them, but neither of them left my side, including Samuel.

The bleeding finally stopped and I skillfully, applied some antibiotic cream to my wound and covered it up with some gauze. But the end of the day I won’t even have a scar, perks of being a werewolf.

But what happened next, I didn’t expect.

Sophia pointed to my injury and she asked. “Good?”

Samuel turned around so fast I thought his heat would spin but I gave him a look not to over react because that would just spook her, we had to act normal.

“Yes Sophia, I’m good now “I tell her and she smiles

But then a feminine voice comes in from the porch ruining the moment and the smile on Sophia’s face slips and Samuel’s angry face is back on.

“Gavin, is Samuel at home?” the voice asked.

“Yes, Alpha Bowers is having his breakfast in the dining room now.” Gavin replied.

“I finally got a half–day off, so I rushed here from the filming set. I haven’t had my breakfast yet.”

“Would you like to have it with the Alpha?”

“Yes. Thank you.”

I knew that voice very well. It was basically ingrained into my brain.

In the past five years, whenever I had a nightmare about the fire, I would hear every word that Yara had told me before leaving me to burn to death.

We were twin sisters. Yet, Yara only wanted me to disappear from this world.

Yara hated me to the core and I never understood why.

Nevertheless, now I felt the same toward Yara, if possible even worse.

This would be my first time seeing Yara after escaping from the fire.

I bit my lip so hard that it started to bleed.

The footsteps were getting closer, this was it, I was finally going to lay eyes on the object of my pain after all these years.

This break from my shooting came at such the right time, I mean ever since Gavin told me about that woman that the kids liked and then having a name that sounded so similar to that of my sister, I haven’t been able to sleep well. Plus Samuel had decided to stop picking my calls.

I knew I had to find the time to get here immediately, Samuel is mine and I can’t let him get away. Thankfully I caught him at the right time

As I walked into the dining room, I immediately noticed that there was another person there other than my beloved Samuel and the two little devils.

It’s a woman! She’s even sitting on Samuel’s left..

I could not see the woman’s face as the latter had her face turned towards the children.

Who is she? I’ve never met her before! Why is she having breakfast with Samuel?

The alarm bells in my head went off. Yet, I still managed to put on an elegant smile. “Samuel, who’s this?” I asked.

“I’m Natalie Edmund,” the woman said, still not turning to face me.

Natalie? Edmund? I felt as if i just got struck by lightning.

This voice… This name… It’s her!

But that’s not possible, five years ago, that woman had been burnt to crisps in the accident I had plotted.

I knew that the dead could not be resurrected, so there was no way the woman before me was the same Natalie. However, hearing the name and that similar voice still shook me to the core.

My smile froze. Unknowingly, my breathing, too, turned rapid.

No, it can’t be, she’s dead. I killed her, she’s dead.

I said to myself as the woman slowly turned around and lifted her face for me to see.
