When I heard Xavier’s voice, panic rushed through my heart. No, why did he have to come out at this moment, catching us in this compromising position. Plus it was Samuel, the same man that he had been pushing on me as his real father and a potential husband for me.

My big round eyes widened in shock. Then, I glared fiercely at Samuel, who still had confusion in his eyes, and I pushed him away as hard as I could.

What exactly is this man’s deal? He has the children’s mother and he had Yara, aren’t the two of them enough for him? But still he’s hell bent on coming after me like I’ll fall for his charms.

However my pushing him away was too late.

Xavier had seen everything, I’m pretty sure he was listening in before he even opened the door, my kid is sly like that even though he knows he’s not supposed to.

Xavier froze in shock when he took a clear look at Samuel’s face. The next second, his eyes glistened slyly.

“Mister, have we met somewhere before?” he asked.

Does he not recognise Samuel or is he just playing dumb?

Samuel turned around to look at my boy and I held my breath while I waited for his reaction. From the little time that I have known Samuel, I ams sure of one thing, he is one of those people who loves their kids but can’t stand other children which was why I thought he would be dettered when I told him that I had kids, but still he chose to come here, to my house.

Could I have been wrong about him?

The two of them kept staring at each other almost like they were trying to figure out where they has seen themselves before. But as far as I know, they’ve never met, Xavier has seen Samuel’s pictures but I’m very sure that Samuel has never met Xavier.

I see the look on my sons face and I know that he’s about to say something that’s definitely going to embarrass me and get in trouble. So to stop things from getting out of hand, I bent over and covered Xavier’s mouth with her hand.

I whispered into his ear with a voice that no one other than the two of them could hear, “Sweetheart, watch your mouth.”

Xavier nodded his head to show that he understood.

I released my son slowly, and as I got up, I glanced at Samuel.

“This is my son, Xavier,” I introduced him.

“Nice to meet you,” greeted Xavier with a nod.

Samuel looked like he was coming out of a shock and I didn’t understand why, he narrowed his eyes as he stared at Xavier. The corners of his lips curled up into an attractive smile.

“Xavier?”

“Yes, it means ‘bright.“” My son replied confidently.

“Such a pretty name.”

“Of course. Mommy gave the name to me, so it is the best name in the world.”

My gaze went back and forth between the man and the boy in front of me.

I understood why Xavier was behaving this way, but I did not have the slightest idea about Samuel’s attitude.

To me, the fact that Samuel could tolerate her “ugliness” was confusing enough and then his advances.

Now that he knew I had two children, he should have looked displeased, but he did not show the slightest bit of disdain.

Does Samuel know my true identity and need me to treat some incurable disease of his? Or does he want to take over Dream? Is that why he forced himself to approach a woman like me?

I could not figure out the reason behind it, so she decided to get Samuel to leave her house.

“Alpha Bowers, it is almost time for dinner. You see, although Xavier has prepared some food, he is still a five–year–old kid. Both his cooking skills and the ingredients he used are in no way comparable to the professional chefs of the Bowers family. Don’t you think you should…” I paused.

I did not finish my sentence as I thought that someone as smart as Samuel should understand my meaning in a second without me having to spell it out. What I was trying to say was clear, I wanted him to leave.

However, Samuel did not leave as I expected. Instead, he undid the button on his shirt collar and fixed his gaze on me. “Then I think we shall have dinner together. I want to try Xavier’s cooking too.”

“All right. I will get dinner ready now.” Xavier nodded, turned around, and left to prepare the meal.

You would think that my child would be on my side.

I, who was left behind, stared at Samuel with a dumbfounded look.

Why is he staying for dinner in my apartment when he could have a luxurious meal back in his own house?

I was sure that Samuel was not too blunt to have missed her hint just now. He was obviously pretending to not get it.

“What do you want exactly?” I ask him.

“I want to have dinner because I am hungry. Or are you worried that I will eat you instead of the food?” He snarled at me as his eyes glowed.

I almost choked on my own saliva upon hearing him. I coughed and said, “You…”

“Don’t worry. I will only eat the food. I won’t eat anything else,” He promised.

I coughed harder than I already did.

This man! What is his deal exactly? He will literally do anything to get closer to me! Fine! Since you want to see what I am hiding, I will play along with you!

As I made up my mind, I stepped into the apartment unit with Samuel.

There were three bedrooms, a living room, and a dining room in the apartment. The three bedrooms each belonged to me, Xavier, and Clayton and the third was used as my home office/ guest bedroom.

“I thought you said you had two sons?” Samuel asks me and I’m shocked that he remembered.

“Yeah, he’s probably in his room, he’ll be out once dinner is ready.” I tell him andhe just nods his head as his eyes scan the house.

Xavier prepared steak for dinner. He was busy walking in and out of the kitchen to bring the food to the dining room. I trusted him to get things done as this wasn’t the first time, I taught him how to use the air fryer so he wouldn’t hurt himself using the stove.
