Hidden Paths
The Alpha’s Mafia Luna
Chapter 102
“I know how you felt,” Mira says, smiling sadly. “I don’t blame you.”
I smile back. “Thank you, Mira.”
Mira leans forward, her voice playful. “So, tell me what’s up. What have you been doing? Spill the tea, girl. Any new job drama? Cute
boss? Flirtation?”
I chuckle, grateful for the change in tone. “Well, I’m working for this tech logistics company. The CEO is a total Alpha–literally and figuratively. His name is Lucas. Super annoying sometimes, but… he’s nice.”
Mira smirks. “Super annoying means you like him.”
“I do not,” I say, too quickly.
“You totally do.”
“I’m still in love with Damian.”
Mira’s face softens. “Then why do you look so sad every time you say his name?”
I don’t answer that.
We talk a while longer, trading harmless gossip and dodging the heavier stuff. I find myself laughing for the first time in days. When Mira finally stands to go, she reaches out and squeezes my hand.
“Don’t shut people out again,” she says. “You need allies.”
I nod.
“I’ll text you,” Mira promises before disappearing out the door.
Back at the office, I feel like I’m floating. The conversation with Mira grounded something in me–reminded me that not everyone in Damian’s world had betrayed me. Still, I can’t shake the haunting image of Isa’s terrified face as she backed away from me at the party.
Something is wrong. Something is big.
Lucas appears at my desk an hour later, knocking lightly on the edge.
“You good?” he asks, studying my face.

“Yeah,” I reply. “Just… thinking.”
He cocks his head. “I can see that. Want to grab a walk around the building?”
We step out onto the balcony, the cool breeze catching my hair. I hesitate before speaking.
“I think someone at the party recognized my mark.”
Lucas turns sharply. “What?”
“Her name was Isa. She came up to me when you stepped away. Asked how I got it. I told her it just appeared. She mentioned her grandmother used to tell stories about ancient marks… and then she got scared. Like someone was watching her.”
Lucas’s eyes narrow. “Did she give you a number?”
“No. Nothing. She ran off.”
He looks out at the city skyline, jaw clenched.
“There are people,” he says slowly, “who would kill to keep the stories of those marks buried.”
I blink. “You know about them?”
“Only what I’ve been told. And most of it sounds like myth.” He turns to me. “But that girl–Isa–she might be a missing link. If we can find her, we might get real answers.”
I nod. “Naia’s trying to dig something up. All we’ve got is her full name.”
“It’s a start,” Lucas says.
We linger in silence before returning to our desks.
As the day winds down, Lucas offers to drive me home. The car ride is quiet at first until I lean my head back and sigh.
“Thanks for taking me to the party,” I say. “And for… not pushing.”
Lucas glances at me, one hand on the wheel. “You looked good in that dress.”
I smile faintly. “Don’t make it weird, boss.”
Lucas laughs. “No promises.”
