The Alpha's Mafia Luna novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118

The dungeon smelled like damp stone, iron, and lies.

My footsteps echoed down the dark corridor as I followed Mira in silence. The torch she held cast flickering shadows on the walls, dancing like ghosts of the

truth I was about to uncover.

Naia.

My heart thundered beneath my ribs, not out of fear, but fury. There was no mistaking the sound of the chains clinking in the distance. The soft, pitiful

groan that came from a familiar throat. And then I saw her.

Slumped on the cold floor, wrists bound in silver cuffs. Her eyes met mine, not with shame or guiltbut with smug satisfaction.

Serene, she said with a crooked smile. Come to gloat?

I stepped closer, the torchlight catching the steel in my gaze.

No. I came for answers.

She chuckled. Of course you did. Always needing to understand everything like a good little princess.

I stared at her, tremblingnot from fear, but disbelief. No wonder,I whispered, my voice shaking. No wonder you got into the Alpha Gala. No wonder you

knew so much about Damianhow you suddenly had an apartment, how you acted like some insider.

My jaw clenched. It was all because of them, wasn’t it? The Elders. They made you.

Naía tilted her head, her lips curling into a slow, wicked smile. Took you long enough to piece it together, she said mockingly. You always were a little

slow, Serene.

What did I ever do to you?My voice cracked. I loved you like a sister. I shared everything with you.

You existed, she hissed. That’s what you did. You existed with your perfect little life and your perfect daddy and your I’msospecialbut1don’teven-

knowitact. And everyoneeveryone loved you for it.

Her words punched holes through my chest.

I had to scrape for everything,Naia continued, stepping closer, her eyes burning. I had no one, no legacy, no name. Just shadows. And youoh, you- basked in the light. All I ever wanted was what you had. But guess what, Serene? That world doesn’t belong to you anymore.

A voice cut in before I could respond. Her voice was cold steel. Let me take you to where we keep werewolves who betray the ones who loved them.

Naia’s smirk slipped.

No, wait-

Mira yanked her up by the chains. No more waiting

Naia thrashed. You’ll regret this! The Elders will burn this place to ash!

PMM.

Let them try,Mira growled, dragging her toward the far end of the corridor.

I didn’t watch her go.

The room smelled of cedarwood and clean linen. Damian’s room.

I sat on the edge of his massive bed, wrapped in one of his shirts. My hair was damp from the shower Mira forced me to take, and my body still ached,

bruised from both betrayal and battle.

Damian stood by the window, shirtless, arms folded, jaw tight.

He sat beside me, reaching for my hand. I didn’t pull away.

How did you find me?I asked.

He didn’t answer right away. His thumb brushed across my knuckles gently, grounding me.

The bond,he finally said. It’s stronger than I ever imagined. I felt your pain. I felt your panic. And Serene

He turned fully to face me, his voice trembling. I don’t even regret marking you. Because if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have found you in time. I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if something had happened to you.

My eyes filled. Damian

I would’ve ripped down every wall in this realm if that’s what it took to get to you,he said, voice fierce now. When I felt your fear through the bond, it

nearly destroyed me.

I pressed my forehead to his chest, needing to feel his heartbeat, to remind myself I was still alive.

I changed,I whispered after a moment. Ishifted.

Damian stiffened, pulling back just enough to look into my eyes. I know. I saw you.

I don’t even know how to feel about it,I said. But when it happenedI felt whole, Like I’d been searching for myself all this time, and I finally stepped

into my skin.

His expression softened, awed. You werebreathtaking,

I smiled through the tears, shaking my head. I wish my father was here. To see me. His little princess wolf.

Damian pulled me into his arms again, holding me so tight I could barely breathe. He would’ve been proud. So damn proud.

We stayed like that for a while. Silent. Breathing in sync.

Do you think Naiaever cared about me?I asked eventually.

Damian was quiet for a long time,

I think she envied you so much it twisted her,he said softly. Maybe she started as your friend. But sometimes envy doesn’t need a reason. Sometimes it just grows and grows until it becomes something else.

I nodded, my heart heavy.

Let her rot,Damian said darkly. The council will decide what to do with her. But no one touches you again. Not without going through me.

There was something terrifyingly sincere in his voice.

You’re not just my mate, Serene. You’re my everything.

Tears spilled down my cheeks againthis time not from pain or betrayal, but from the te

rrifying weight of being loved that deeply.

When Damian finally stepped out to let me rest, I laid back, staring up at the ceiling.

The ache in my bones reminded me I’d shifted.

The phantom sting on my cheek reminded me of Naia’s betrayal.

But beneath it allthere was something new.

Strength.

My wolf was finally awake. And she was whispering in my soul, telling me this wasn’t the end.

It was the beginning.

I closed my eyes, letting sleep take me. But just before the darkness claimed me, I heard a voicenot from the room, but from within:

The bloodline lives. The curse awakens.

My breath caught.

A cold wind brushed over my skin.

And in my dream, I saw the woman with the starcrowned hair again, sitting on a throne of bones.

She looked at me.

And smiled.
