The afternoon sun was warm, painting the sky with streaks of gold
and soft blues. I wandered through the halls aimlessly, feeling
restless, my skin itching for something to do. Mira was nowhere to be
found, and Damian had vanished again without a word after our
morning brunch.
With a grin tugging at my lips, I decided to take advantage of the
private pool behind the estate. I hadn’t swum in what felt like forever.
Besides, a little sun and water wouldn’t hurt.

I slipped into the tiny red bikini I’d found in my closet – something
Mira had insisted I pack when we left home. I glanced in the mirror
and laughed softly.
Red.
His favorite color.
A wicked idea crossed my mind
–
not that I was trying to seduce
anyone… but if Damian happened to pass by, who was I to blame?
I grabbed a towel, tossed it over my shoulder, and made my way
outside.

Chapter 48
The pool shimmered in the sunlight, looking inviting and almost
deserted
—
almost.
I froze mid–step when I spotted him.
Damian.
Already in the water.
Shirtless.
Swim trunks low on his hips, wet hair slicked back, muscles gleaming
under the sun like he was carved from sin itself.
My throat went dry.
As if sensing me, he turned
—
and his eyes devoured me.
A slow, sinful smile curved his lips. He pushed off the pool wall lazily,
swimming toward the edge closest to me, his gaze never wavering.
“Trying to seduce me, little Queen?” he drawled, voice rich and low.
“Wearing my favorite color?”

I blushed, heat rushing up my neck, but lifted my chin defiantly.
“Maybe,” I said, shrugging playfully. “Maybe I just like red.”
He chuckled, deep and warm, the sound vibrating through me.
“Get in,” he said, voice darkening a shade. “Before I lose my patience.”
My heart thudded hard, but I walked to the pool edge and slid in
smoothly, the cool water wrapping around my body.
Damian’s eyes never left me.
We swam around for a while, splashing each other, laughing like two
kids who had no care in the world.
Every brush of his arm against mine, every accidental bump, sent
jolts of electricity through me.
At one point, he dove underwater and grabbed my ankle, tugging me
playfully under. I squealed, kicking free, but he caught me again,
spinning me into his arms.
Our bodies collided
—
skin on skin
–
faded into something heavier, thicker.
and suddenly, the laughter

Chapter 48
I sucked in a breath.
He was so close.
His arms still loosely around my waist, his chest pressed lightly
against my bikini top. I could feel the heat of his skin even through
the water.
He looked down at me, his silver eyes burning.
“You drive me insane, Selene,” he murmured, voice rough, raw.
I swallowed, heart hammering painfully against my ribs.
“You think you’re the only one?” I whispered back, my voice shaking.
Something snapped in his expression. A muscle ticked in his jaw.
He leaned in slowly, giving me time to pull away if I wanted – I
didn’t.
God, I didn’t.
His nose brushed mine, teasing, taunting.

“Still running, little Queen?” he whispered, voice dangerously low.
I didn’t answer.
I couldn’t.
Because in the next heartbeat, he kissed me.
It wasn’t soft.
It wasn’t gentle.
It was fire.
His mouth crashed against mine, demanding, taking, tasting.
I gasped into him, my arms instinctively winding around his neck, my
fingers tangling in his wet hair.
–
Damian groaned deep in his chest – a low, primal sound — and
pressed me harder against the pool wall. His tongue slipped between
my lips, and I opened for him without hesitation.
Our bodies molded together perfectly, as if they had been made for
this.

Chapter 48
His hands roamed up my sides, one sliding up to cup the back of my
head, the other gripping my waist possessively.
Everywhere he touched me, sparks exploded.
I moaned against his mouth, clinging tighter.
His hips pressed against mine under the water, and I felt him – hard,
ready, wanting me.
Heat pooled between my thighs, dizzying and delicious.
Damian broke the kiss first, only to trail his lips down my jaw, my
neck, finding that sweet spot just below my ear.
He sucked lightly, making me shiver and arch into him.
“You’re killing me, Selene,” he growled against my skin.
“You started it,” I breathed, barely coherent.
He chuckled darkly, teeth grazing my neck.
His hands slid lower, slipping beneath my bikini bottom slightly,
cupping my bare ass under the water.

I gasped, clutching him harder, feeling the thickness of him pressing
against my belly, hard and urgent.
I was burning.
Drowning.
Needing.
Damian pulled back just slightly, enough to meet my eyes.
His gaze was molten, silver turned to liquid metal.
