Chapter 68
“RUN!”
His voice echoed in my ears.
I turned, frantic, searching for my father in the chaos.
A silver arrow pierced his shoulder. My scream ripped through the air
as his body jerked from the impact, the glint of silver embedded deep
in his flesh.
“No!”
He dropped to one knee, his transformation faltering. His powerful
wolf form flickered as the poison from the silver burned into him.
I ran to him. “Father!”
He met my eyes–not with fear. Not even pain.
With rage. Fury, Defiance,
“RUN!” he ordered again, louder, his voice hoarse.

“NO!” I cried, dropping to my knees.
Another arrow flew.
Straight through his chest.
Everything stopped. The air. The sounds. The screaming. My heart.
I lunged forward, desperate, but someone’s arms wrapped around me,
dragging me back.
“SELENE, WE HAVE TO GO!”
Darius.
“No! Let go of me!” I screamed, clawing at his arms. “Father! Father!”
My father’s body collapsed to the blood–soaked earth, a wet choking
sound coming from his throat. He struggled to breathe.
“I love you,” he rasped. “Run.”
I gasped, my eyes flying open.
The ceiling above me was familiar–soft white, the chandelier

swaying slightly from the open balcony window.
“Father…” I whispered, a single tear slipping down my cheek.
I sat up, my heart pounding, my entire body trembling. I looked
beside me.
Damian wasn’t there.
The space next to me was cold.
I pushed the covers aside and stood, making my way to the bathroom.
My hands were shaking as I reached for the toothbrush. I stared at
myself in the mirror–my pale skin, tired eyes,.
I finished quickly and made my way downstairs, each step heavy and
echoing through the silent mansion.
As I reached the bottom step, I saw someone sitting on the living
room couch.
He was facing away from the staircase, one arm thrown casually over the backrest, as if he owned the place.
“Hello?” I said, cautiously.

He turned.
Taurus.
“Oh. Hi, Luna,” he said, his voice deep, smooth… and dangerous.
That voice made my skin crawl–not from fear, but from the heavy
presence it carried.
I got a good look at him for the first time. A scar carved its way down
his left eye, jagged and unforgiving. But it was his eyes that held me-
icy blue, sharp and calculating.
Something about them felt familiar.
Too familiar.
“Don’t you remember me, Luna?” His lips curved into a smirk. “You
should.”
I swallowed. My throat burned. “Umm… yes. Taurus.”
Just then, Damian stepped out from the kitchen, holding a steaming
mug in his hand.
His eyes landed on me immediately.

“Hey,” he said, rushing over. “Are you okay?”
I nodded too quickly. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.”
He gently pressed the back of his hand to my forehead. “You sure?
You’re pale.”
“I just had a bad dream,” I whispered, not taking my eyes off Taurus.
Damian’s hand dropped. He looked between us before guiding me
gently toward the couch. “Come sit.”
I sat beside him, still on edge, while Taurus leaned forward lazily, his
eyes watching me with amusement.
“So,” Damian said, breaking the silence, “Taurus is the one I told to
dig into the Lost Kingdom… the one you’ve been dreaming about.”
My chest tightened. “Oh.”
Before I could ask more, Mira walked in through the back doors with
her usual dramatic flair.
“Hey, sunshine,” she called out, plopping onto the armchair. “How’re
you feeling? Better?”

I gave her a small, dry smile. “Better, yeah.”
Her eyes narrowed playfully. “You sure you didn’t eat something
stupid last night?”
I didn’t respond. Mira shrugged, accepting the silence.
Taurus leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. That smirk
was still there.
“I did my digging,” he said. “And I found more than I expected.”
His voice dropped a note. Damian stiffened beside me.
“The Lost Kingdom of Aleoria,” Taurus began, “was said to have been
burned to the ground twenty years ago. A war started by betrayal. The
royal family slaughtered. Their palace razed.”
He paused.
