The Alpha’s Mafia Luna
Chapter 77
We sat in silence. The fire had died a while ago. There was only the
sound of the wind and the soft creaking of the wooden cabin. Kael
was sitting across from me, drinking tea. He didn’t look at me. His
face was calm but unreadable, like stone. I didn’t know what he was
thinking, but I could feel the tension in the air.
Then-
Bang.
A loud knock on the door.
Once.
Then again.
My body froze. My back straightened.
Kael didn’t even blink. He calmly picked up the knife from the table
the one he always sharpened and stood up. His movements were
slow and careful, like he had done this before. He stepped in front of
me, placing himself between the door and me.

The rain outside had gotten heavier. It hit the windows like small
stones. Thunder rumbled far away.
Kael’s voice was low. “Who is it?”
There was a pause.
Then came a voice I didn’t want to hear.
“Good evening, Kael.”
My heart dropped.
Damian.
Kael’s grip on the knife tightened. “What are you doing here?”
There was a small sound outside, like someone shifting their weight.
“Just visiting,” Damian replied. His voice was smooth, like always.
“Checking in.”
But I knew better. Damian never did anything without a reason.
Kael didn’t open the door. He didn’t need to. Damian leaned forward,

his face coming into view through the side window. His eyes were sharp, cold, and full of something dangerous. Then he saw me
standing behind Kael.
“There you are,” he said with a smile, like he had found something he
lost.
I stepped forward. I wasn’t going to let him treat me like I was some
object he owned.
“What do you want?” I asked. My voice was calm, but inside, I was
shaking.
Damian smiled, water dripping from his hair and jacket. “Let’s talk,
Serene. There’s no need for all this drama.”
I gave a bitter laugh. “Drama? You murdered my father.”
His smile faded a little. There was something in his eyes
guilt, maybe not.
maybe
“It’s not what you think,” he said quickly. “Let me explain. I can fix
this-”
Kael moved forward, his voice firm. “Leave.”

Damian looked at Kael like he was annoyed.
Then he turned back to me. “Serene, you need to come with me. This
place, this man – they’re not for you. You belong with me.”
“Belong?” I repeated, my eyebrows rising. “Are you crazy?”
His voice softened. “Remember what we had? The good times? I loved
you.”
“You were lying the whole time,” I said. “You should’ve been an actor
instead of a killer.”
Damian’s jaw tightened. “I didn’t kill your father.”
“Liar.”
Kael looked ready to fight. I saw it in the way he stood – solid,
protective.
“Leave,” Kael said again. His voice was like a storm.
But Damian didn’t leave. He stepped closer to the porch.
“If you don’t come with me,” he said quietly, “I’ll burn this cabin
down. I’ll do something we’ll both regret.”

There it was. The real Damian. Hiding behind charm, but always full
of threats.
“Is that a threat?” I asked.
“It’s a promise,” he replied.
Kael looked at me. His eyes were serious. “Don’t trust him, Serene.
He’s twisting the truth. That’s what he does.”
He was right. I knew he was right.
But I also knew something else – if I stayed, Damian might hurt Kael.
I couldn’t let that happen. Kael had given me a place to stay, food,
safety, and something even rarer — peace.
–
I made my decision the moment Damian knocked.
“I’ll go,” I said quietly. “But don’t do anything stupid.”
Kael’s head turned fast. “Serene
–
no.”
“I have to,” I said. “Please trust me.”
He searched my eyes, trying to understand if I had a plan.

I didn’t give him any hints.
“I’m just getting my shoes,” I said and turned away.
In the small bedroom, I sat on the bed and took a deep breath. My
hands were shaking as I pulled on my boots. The rain was louder now.
The roof echoed with each drop.
I stood up, ran my fingers through my hair, and looked around one
last time.
The folded blanket. The quiet air. The safety.
Kael.
I walked out, closing the door softly.
Damian was already near his car, the door open.
“That’s dramatic,” I said, slamming the door shut.
Then I opened it again, got in, and sat down.
He smirked. “Still dramatic, I see.”

“You don’t know the half of it,” I replied, staring straight ahead.
The engine started, and the car rolled down the path, leaving the
cabin behind.
But my heart didn’t leave.
Hours Later
The ride was long. Neither of us said much. Damian kept glancing at
“You don’t have to be like this,” he finally said. “You used to smile
when you were with me.”
“You used to be someone I could trust,” I said.
He didn’t answer.
We passed the gates of the mansion. They opened slowly. The house
looked the same cold, huge, full of secrets.
—
When we stopped, I didn’t wait. I stepped out of the car and walked to
the front doors.
They opened before I could knock.
