FIONA – POV
It’s been two days since I returned, and it has been the most pleasant experience for me.

The next morning, I woke up clear–headed with no nightmares or echoes of the past clawing at my mind.
For the first time in a long while, my wolf was calm, quiet, steady, and grounded with no grudges draining
her.
That day I returned here was the best day of my life, as they had organised an immediate welcome party after mugging me with hugs.
I didn’t know meeting them again would have such sweet feelings aboutout me. Mearon had treated me like an egg; Kieran filled my ears with jokes and stories that made me laugh my lungs out.
They told me how Calor finally picked up the courage to ask his crush out, and it ended in disaster. She was married.
The way Kieran told the story made me laugh till my stomach hurt. Toren added sauce to make the whole gist funnier.
They were treating me like a princess, and I couldn’t help how it made my heart thump in joy.
How did I leave and allow myself to get burdened by the Jensons?
I sat up slowly and glanced at the painting resting against the wall. I had worked on it for two hours yesterday with Kieran as my motivator.
I drew not as Fiona Jenson or as the rejected beta’s daughter seeking revenge.
It was all out of passion and discovering myself.
I packed it carefully and headed out. It was a project to Prof. Simon after he saw my snake drawing. I had ignored his email before, but I decided to do the portrait drawing yesterday.
By the time I got to the university, the morning air was still cool, carrying faint scents of different wolves mixed together. The academy was a free ground for royals and the wealthy from every part of the world.
Professor Simon was already waiting for me, and the moment I handed him the painting, he didn’t say a
word.
He just stared.
Seconds passed. Then minutes passed, and even his breathing slowed.
When he finally snapped out of it, his eyes were shining.
“Fiona… this…”
He shook his head, almost in disbelief.

different level. The forest looks so real.”
He looked at me like he was seeing me for the first time.
“You’re not just competing locally anymore. This… this could represent the entire pack. You could stand on the world stage.”
I smiled lightly. “Thank you, Professor.”
Not much excitement or arrogance. Just quiet certainty and fulfilment.
I had already decided that from now, I wasn’t going to do things out of grudges or for revenge. I was doing it for myself, and it made me feel so much better.
After leaving his office, I headed to class.
Behind me, I could sense Professor Simon still staring at the painting like he couldn’t let it go.
Then his phone rang before he looked away.
LYDIA POV
“Hello? Lydia?”
“Professor… sorry to bother you.”
I kept my voice soft, careful and controlled.
“My brother is still in the healing wing. I’ve been taking care of him… but I finished my piece for the national competition yesterday night. I was hoping you could review it.”
There was a pause, and it felt like a bad one.
“Lydia… I’m sorry.” His words confirmed my fear.
My fingers tightened around the phone as I waited for what he had to say.
“I’ve already chosen someone else. We’re sending Fiona.”
“What?!”
The word slipped out before I could stop it, sounding sharp and ugly.
I froze in shock and anger but quickly forced my voice back down.
“I… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to react like that. I was just surprised.” I muttered.
“I understand,” he said gently. “But you’ve seen her work. She’s the best candidate. There’s no comparison. This isn’t just about ranking; it’s about representing the entire wolf territory with the best student. She has that level.”
Every word felt like a slap to my face, but I swallowed them.

Chapter 171
“Alright.” I said quietly. “I understand.”
I ended the call, and it felt like everything shattered with it.
I kicked off my shoes and slammed them hard against the bathroom door, once, twice, again.
“Fiona!”
My voice cracked.
Why is it always you?
Everything that was supposed to be mine, you take it.
What was the whole point of being crowned the Beta daughter only for Fiona to have all the praise and glory now?
She left, and I thought it was the end, but here she was, back and stronger, taking back everything bit by bit.
I won’t accept this!
