“Sister,” Lydia called softly as she leaned closer, just enough to invade my space, but didn’t seem aggressive. Her voice dipped into that careful tone she used when she wanted an audience to believe she cared.
“I am sorry for Lance’s harsh words but we heard a rumor,” she continued, eyes glossy with concern. “That you’ve been spending time with… wealthy men. Late at night. In bars and hotels.”
She hesitated, then added quietly, “Is that true? Would you really do something like that?”
The room went still as her words echoed in my head. It didn’t sound like a question but was a blade, polished and deliberate to humiliate me.
She was implying I sold my body and judging by the way heads turned, by the sudden sharp curiosity in their eyes, they heard it exactly the way she intended.
I almost laughed.
“What kind of girl is this?”
I wondered coldly because only someone rotten to the core could say something like that to me loudly while pretending to be kind.
“Lydia… my life is none of your business,” I replied calmly, a faint smirk curving my lips.
For the first time, something flickered behind her eyes like surprise and anger.
My reaction wasn’t what she expected and it had dawned on her once again that I was no longer the weak, discarded girl she had replaced so easily. It was as if she was realizing the new me could reclaim everything she stole.
“It may not be my business,” she said smoothly, recovering fast, “but you’re still part of this family. Everyone knows that. So tell us, Fiona… where did the wealth come from?”
Her gaze swept the room as if asking others to judge with her, before returning her eyes to me.
“A hundred and fifty thousand dollars for a Porsche. Plus academy fees for you and your friend.” Jake blurted.
She gasped softly, covering her mouth. “Oh–I hope it didn’t come from the family-”
The meaning landed like a bomb as Jake stood abruptly, his wolf aura rising, same with Lance.
“You stole from us.”

He didn’t ask. He declared it like he had the evidence in the world.
The crowd in the room gasped, and at the same moment the proprietor entered, her expression freezing as she took in the accusation.
“So that’s why she rushed and cut ties with the family, running away from home.” Lance added, voice laced with triumph.
“She didn’t steal anything!” Raina shouted, shaking with rage. “She earned it herself!”
Lance laughed darkly and rose to his feet. “Earned it? She left less than a month ago and you expect us to believe a student suddenly made three hundred thousand dollars? Do you hear how ridiculous that sounds?”
I quietly activated the recorder on my phone for evidence.
“If our money wasn’t stolen by her,” Lance continued coldly, folding his arms, “then there’s only one explanation.”
He looked straight at me and said it bluntly.
“Prostitution.”
The word echoed and I felt my breath still.
Did he really just say that?
The irony was almost laughable as he was a man training to become the Pack Enforcer, someone meant to uphold law and justice, yet here he was, throwing criminal accusations without a shred of evidence.
He was ruining himself and didn’t even realize it.
Whispers exploded around us and I could hear the murmurs from the students, especially the females who seemed to have developed hatred for me ever since they saw me with that entry
card from the Prince.
“Paying cash for a Porsche Cayenne? How many clients would that take?”
“She is pretty. Guess looks really do pay when you decide to be a hoe.”
“So that’s why Lydia replaced her. That’s a disgrace.”
“Prostitution, theft… could she be dealing drugs too?”
Each word hit like a slap as my fists clenched, anger boiling in my chest. Not because I was

Their Envy had already sentenced me.

Damon frowned slightly, unease crossing his face, but before he could speak, Lydia rushed in again.
