“And one more thing.” I said evenly. “Once it’s proven that my money is clean and not stolen, they will apologize to me and to Raina for what they did. And they will compensate me for the stress, defamation. and the disruption they caused.”

Officer Elbert nodded. “That’s only fair.”

With my recordings and the academy’s surveillance footage, the evidence was airtight.

This wasn’t a misunderstanding twisted by doubt anymore, but was a deliberate slander, and I had every right to demand accountability.

Watching how calm I remained really made Lydia’s unease deepen as at first, she had only wanted to humiliate me. To turn the room against me because she never truly believed I could possess that kind of money legally. In her mind, I had to be a thief. Or worse.

Accusing me of selling my body had been her way of making everyone recoil from me, but now I was the one who had called the authorities. I hadn’t panicked. I hadn’t begged. I hadn’t backed down.

And that terrified her as I could see the fear in her eyes. “Could this actually turn against her?”

“Lance,” she whispered, tugging lightly at his sleeve, her voice soft and worried. “Maybe we should just stop this. She’s still family. If this grows bigger, the pack will talk. Father and Mother will be furious if the hear about it.”

Lance hesitated and for a brief moment, doubt flickered across his face but I stepped forward before she could finish reeling him in.

“What are you saying?” I said coolly. “You think backing out now means you escape consequences? Lance, don’t be a coward. You made the accusations so own them. No retreat now.”

My words struck his pride like a blade and his temper ignited instantly. “Who are you calling a coward?” h snapped, turning to Elbert. “Officer, I want a full investigation about her source of wealth. I don’t believe Fiona made that kind of money legally! It is never possible.”

Lydia almost gasped out loud but I stayed calm, smiling. “Go ahead and do the investigation.”

At this point, letting the authorities examine my accounts without hesitation could only mean one thing 1 was innocent, and they knew it.

If Lance had accepted Lydia’s excuse about stopping the whole thing and protecting the family’s reputation, this might have ended quietly. But now he had dragged it past the point of control and I would definitely make sure he suffers for his wrong accusation.

There was no turning back.

“Fiona, don’t be angry,” Lydia said hurriedly as it she had already seen the future damage of what they are doing. “Please…we were just worried you were going down the wrong road–”

“Shut up,” I cut in coldly. “And stop saying my name like we’re close. You disgust me.”

The sharpness of my words silenced her instantly and she lowered her head, eyes glassy, retreating behind Lance like a frightened child.

“Fiona!” Lance snarled, his glare burning with pure hostility, but I didn’t flinch.

I calmly worked with Officer Elbert, providing every banking detail he requested. Because this was now an official case, he routed everything through secured investigative channels.

Raina stayed beside me the entire time, her hand clasped tightly in mine. She didn’t say a word, but I felt her support clearly.

“I’m here. Even if your own family tries to destroy you, I’ll stand with you.”

As the minutes passed, Lydia grew increasingly restless, her fingers twisted together.

Her breathing became shallow. Meanwhile, Raina and I remained calm. That contrast only made Lydia’s nerves fray further and she wanted to say something to Lance. To stop this. But it was already too late.

If they were wrong, compensation would be bad enough.

But publicly apologizing to me?

That would crush her ego and she knew it. Everyone would find out how blindly they throw judgment, and it would affect the saint she claimed to be.

Finally, Elbert returned. Almost an hour of waiting.

“After a full investigation,” he announced, “we’ve confirmed that Ms. Fiona’s funds were obtained through legal channels. They have no connection to the Beta family whatsoever.”

The words fell like a final verdict and Raina released a quiet breath she’d been holding.

I remained composed as I had known the outcome from the start the moment Kieran gave me his word.

My money was spotless.

“What?!” Lance barked, “That’s impossible! There has to be a mistake!”

“Mr. Lance,” Elbert said coolly, meeting his eyes, “our investigation followed strict legal procedure. There is no mistake. And no special treatment.”

Then his tone sharpened. “I know your reputation. I know your career path. Your pack–and even this nation–expects discipline and integrity from someone aiming to serve as an Enforcer.”

The warning landed hard and Lance stiffened as everything he had worked for flashed before him in an

instant.

His ambition and future career were hanging by a thread and the cold reality finally doused his rage.

“But…” he muttered, struggling to regain ground. “How did she make that much money? She’s just a student. I still don’t understand.”

I watched their expressions change as they read. Line by line, the arrogance drained from their faces, replaced by something darker. They weren’t just reading numbers but understood what they were seeing.
