Chapter 38
Fini
A loud hiss slipped my lips as I read the text from my father, and it was with a lot of self–control that I didn’t smash the phone on the floor.
How would he fix dinner with that girl?
Why were they forcing me on that girl? After I had told them I wasn’t interested.
“The only way we would accept she wasn’t the one for you is if the moon goddess gave you another gir a mate. Till then, she will be your wife. You are not getting any younger, and the throne is waiting for y
These words from my father rang in my head, and I stole another glance at Fiona, wishing in that mon that I would feel that mate bond spark immediately.
Not that I was interested in having any romantic relationship with anyone, but Fiona was a better choic than Lydia, who all I felt for was detest. I regret that she was the official Beta daughter.
Fiona’s POV
“Fiona, didn’t you think what Mr Alfie did just now was kind of weird?”
Now that Raina had calmed down, she thought back on what Alfie had said and done. Something just didn’t sit right, truly.
“I mean, he’s just a restaurant manager, yet he wasn’t afraid to go against Lisa and Daphne.
“And he acts super friendly with Daren. Wrapping his arm on his neck. That’s not how a regular manage behaves.”
I saw how Raina kept sneaking looks at the nearby table where Daren and Alfie were sitting, and I could notice she had a kind of interest in someone there.
Alfie noticed her peeking and smiled while waving in her direction. Caught off guard, Raina turned away in a panic, and she grabbed her chest, biting her lip. “Oh my god,
Alfie Woodward waved at me!”
“You like him already…” I teased. “Nice choice… He is confident, charming, and way too good–looking.”
“What? No… please.” Her voice was shaky, and I could tell she was lying
Kieran’s voice chipped in at that moment, and we didn’t even know he was around. “Let me tell you about him.” He smiled and sat with us. “He isn’t just the manager. I saw his name as one of our clients in the Silvervein company.”
“Are you serious?”
“That man must be very wealthy, and I won’t be surprised if he has plans on buying this place and is only acting as manager for experience.” I gasped.
“Ohh. Is that why he acts like he and Daren are on the same level?” Raina said with a cheeky stunle.

“They are friends.” Kieran smiled.
“He was looking at me in some way.” Raina mumbled, then shook her head. “Sorry, I must be overthinking… He is way out of my league.”
“I don’t think so. He might be very interested in you. He had been overseas for the past three years and had only come back a month ago. Surprisingly, he kept his return quiet. Woodward Group didn’t announce anything or reveal who he was.” Kieran explained.
“How could he still be single? No fate or chosen mate.” Raina mumbled with a shrug.
“He was made manager by Daren just to get some work experience.”
Wow…
I could tell Raina was really impressed.
Right then Kieran reached out and held my hand, his face drawn. “I heard it all from your mother. I’m sorry.”
I met his gaze and offered a small smile. “I’m okay, Kieran. Really?”
“How can you be okay? I was struggling to breathe when Mrs Jenson talked like that earlier.” Raina sighed her grip on my hand tightened.
She definitely couldn’t forget the horrible things Lisa had said, and tears began to fill her eyes.
“It’s ridiculous! What kind of mom treats her daughter like that?” She fumed.
“If you hadn’t been here, I think I would’ve completely fallen apart.
“But even if I lost my family, I still have you, my most important best friend, with me.
“Thinking about it, life isn’t so unfair after all.”
I leaned over and gently brushed away Raina’s tears. “Come on now, pretty girl. Crying’s not your style. I like you better when you’re glowing and gorgeous, okay?”
Raina nodded quickly, trying hard to hold back more tears. “I’m not crying. If the Jensons don’t want you, Fiona, I do! We’re sticking together no matter what!”
“Sorry to break up this touching moment.”
Alfie walked over, holding something with a smile beaming on his face, and I could see how Raina’s cheeks flushed red; she was too shy to even look at his eyes.
Her heart must be beating very fast now. I was so happy for her, happy to see a man had captured her attention. Soon, her wolf would become restless, and who knows, he may turn out to be her mate. I just hope he becomes a good one because no one is allowed to hurt my friend. He must treat her well.
“This here’s a VIP card from Sky Dining.” When he spoke, Raina could only smile as if she had lost control
of her mouth.

“Just scan it with your phone, and it’s ready to use. No reservations needed, and you’ll get 30% off every
visit.
“Also, here’s a bottle of ’82 Lafite, my special gift to both of you.”
Raina immediately shook her head. “Wait, that’s too much! We can’t take that!”
She knew that wine was worth a fortune.
We already got our meal free, plus the VIP card, and she thought that was more than enough.
“Sky Dining has spent years building its name. We can’t afford bad press. If you don’t want the wine, just throw it away. I’m not taking it back.” Alfie said and gave Raina a look that clearly meant more than his words, then turned and walked away.
