At this point, I was certain of one thing.

If I had listened to Raina back then and returned to the Jensons, today would’ve destroyed her because she would feel guilty and blame herself.

She used to tug at my sleeve, urging me to give them another chance, insisting that blood still meant something. But now, the way her fingers wrapped around mine told me everything. She would never try to push me toward them anymore.

She would rather keep me away.

Far away.

“Don’t worry,” I told her quietly. “I’m not shaken. My head’s clear. I stopped believing in the Jensons a long time ago.”

My wolf was calm. Steady. Alert.

“This isn’t about blood or pack bonds,” I continued. “The apology is about you, Raina. You were hurt because of me. If I can’t even shield the one person who stood beside me when everyone else bared their fangs, then what good am I?”

The Jensons were Betas–second only to the Alpha. Even wealthy pack heirs knew better than to clash with them. One word from Russell, and entire families could be cast out overnight.

Phones were wiped clean.

Sworn silence followed.

When Lance ordered the guards to erase the surveillance footage too, Jake nodded approvingly.

“Clean,” Jake said flatly. “No stains left.”

Only then did Lance turn his attention back to me.

I noticed his gaze lingering and calmly slid my phone into my pocket before meeting his eyes with a sharp, humorless smile.

“Classic,” I said. “Make a mess, then bury it. Silence everyone, erase proof, protect the great Jenson name

I scoffed. “Disgusting.”

Jake’s eyes snapped to me.

“You don’t get to talk about the Jenson name,” he said coldly, stepping forward Youre the reason IUS being dragged through the mud in the first place.”
