Miranda shot Shane a look of utter disbelief. ‘Our son’s been pushed to the brink, and Shane still refuses to admit he’s wrong,’ she thought.
Miranda cut in, “He’s not a toddler. He’s twenty-seven! Everything he said to you was straight from his heart. And even now, you’re still trying to blame others? Wasn’t lan shaped by your guidance since he was a kid?”
Shane huffed, “Just look at the way he talks to me!”
Miranda retorted, “Respect is a two-way street. Even if you’re his father, you can’t just spy on everything he does!”
Shane insisted, “I’m doing this for his own good! If he wasn’t my son, why would I leave everything to him?”
lan shot back, “You keep insisting you’re giving me everything from this family, but is it really all mine? Have you truly handed it over?
“If you really trust someone, you let them take charge. If you don’t, then just pick another heir. I’ll leave with nothing but the clothes on my back!” Ian continued.
“You ungrateful bastard, you dare threaten me?” Shane snapped, his voice echoing through the room as he raised his hand for another slap. But before Shane could strike, Ian caught his wrist in mid-air, gripping it tight.
Ian shoved his father aside and walked out of the house, resolute and without a single glance back.
Edward stayed silent the entire time. Ian never gave Edward a chance to say a word.
After lan left, Shane was fuming, with nowhere to vent his anger. He jabbed a finger at Miranda and roared, “Look at the fine son you’ve raised! He was about to lay hands on his own father, all because of the Irvines!”
Miranda stayed eerily calm. “You’ve seen with your own eyes how the Irvines have treated Ian since he was little. Is it a crime for him to treat them well?”
Shane shot back, “I gave him plenty of chances! I even agreed when he wanted to marry Chloe Irvine, but he’s the one who changed his mind!”
Miranda replied, “Even if they didn’t end up together, they’ve been childhood sweethearts for years. How could you expect him to just cut off all those feelings overnight?”
Shane was stubborn to the core. “He’s the Hamilton Heir, a man who should stand on his own two feet and face reality. What’s wrong with me telling him to be practical?”
Miranda sank onto the couch, feeling utterly drained. She worried, ‘This isn’t reality. It’s just cold-blooded. What scares me most is that Shane’s attitude toward me will set an example of how lan treats his own wife one day!’
Shane snapped, “If he’s got the nerve, let him stay gone for good The Hamilton family isn’t just about him, and the Hamilton Group will do just fine without him!”
Before Shane could finish, Miranda’s glass hit the table with a sharp crack, right in front of him. The living room fell into an eerie silence.
Miranda slowly got to her feet, glanced at Edward, then pointed Shane. “You listen to me, Shane. For years, the Weasley and Hamilton families have been tied together, for better or wome.
“Everything the Hamiltons have now. I have a stake in it, too. All these years, I’ve put up with you for the sake of our children. Do you really think I’m afraid of you?”
Miranda walked right up to Shane. She locked eyes with him, eranciating every word. “Shane, if you dare threaten the interests of our children, I swear, no matter the cost, I’ll make sure you regret it!”

With that, Miranda shot Edward one last look, then strode out of the room without looking back.

After Miranda left, Shane stood there, speechless, unable to utter a word for a long time. ‘One after another, they all dare to threaten me?’ Shane thought, his anger boiling beneath the surface.
Edward, who had kept quiet until now, finally spoke up, his tone stern as he snapped at Shane, ‘Don’t even let that thought cross your mind about changing the heir!”
Shane looked frustrated, and all that swagger from before had vanished as he spoke to Edward. Shane said, “Dad, I was just saying that off the cuff.”
Edward’s tone was grave. “Ian’s got much behind him, one of the eight powerhouses, the Weasley family, and his uncle Julian Rowe. You need to seriously consider what you’re up against.”
Shane’s anger finally started to fade. He said to Edward, “Dad, I just want Ian to keep his distance from the Irvines.
“In the future, we can find him a rich heiress who’s a good match for our family. I’m only doing this for his sake, but look at the way he treats me!”
Edward’s eyes, though clouded with age, were still sharp. “The kids are grown now. You need to control your temper and stop lashing out at Miranda and the children every time something happens.”
Shane grumbled, “Ian always took after me growing up. It’s only lately that his whole personality has changed. I’m sure it’s the Irvines messing with his head!”
Edward replied, “It doesn’t matter who’s influencing him. He’s your son, and he’s still the best choice to run the Hamilton Group. If you keep him close, no one will be able to come between you two.”
Late that night, at the Royal Court Club, Ian was sitting alone in private room, drinking his sorrows away. Patrick came looking for him, pushing the door open and stepping inside.
Ian barely lifted his eyes to glance at Patrick, poured him a glass of wine, and slid it across the table.
Patrick took the glass and set it down on the coffee table, staring at the bruise on Ian’s face. “Mia said you had a blowout with your family. What’s going on?”
Ian didn’t answer. He just tipped his head back and took a big gulp of red wine.
Patrick reached over and took the glass from his hand. “Is this all because of Chloe?”
Ian slumped back against the couch, exhaustion written all over his face. ‘I wish to burn every bridge with Grandpa and Dad, all for Chloe. I’m willing to throw it all away, just to stay by her side!
‘I just wish Chloe would notice me, just once, and give me a real chance. But in the end, it was all just a fantasy.’
lan leaned forward and poured himself another glass of wine. His deep, unreadable eyes stayed fixed on the crimson liquid, lost in silence for a long moment.
He finally spoke, voice low and bitter. “My grandfather and my dad keep saying they’re handing me the whole Hamilton legacy, but behind my back, they’re monitoring my accounts, interfering in my personal life, even sending people to tail
me.”
Ian felt suffocating tightness in his chest. He just wanted to get out, anywhere but here. But in reality, he had no place to hide.
Patrick shot him a worried look and asked quietly, “Man, are you really thinking of walking away from being the Hamilton
Heir?”
