SIX YEARS AGO
A MONTH LATER
It's been a month since Stacey’s death and things have changed a lot in the building. The newly ranked students aren't allowed to associate with the seniors and the ranks below.
The ranked students are now strict and everyone hates Alessa. They all blamed her for Stacey’s death.
Alessa, who was once their favourite, became who they hated the most. No one would talk to Alessa, she was lonely and she preferred it that way.
She believed everyone who gets close to her ends up betraying her or dying. She believed she didn't deserve to be happy.
She couldn't get over Stacey’s death, she wasn't trying to anyway. The guilt kept eating her up and she was filled with regret. She wished she hadn't spared Aliyah’s life.
Her hatred for Aliyah was now high and she was sure she would never miss a chance to kill her again.
She has been paying attention to the lessons too and tried her best to avoid Madam Olga. It was obvious that Madam Olga hates her so she tries to stay out of her way.
It has also been over two months since Rico visited. Madam Olga had informed her he wouldn't be visiting every month again but she couldn't help but worry.
She hoped her kids were okay and Rico was safe too. She couldn't wait to see him, she had a lot she wanted to talk to him about.
Alessa stared at her feet as she waited for Madam Olga to show up. Other students were also waiting. They were in the training room, waiting.
The doors to the room opened and everyone paid attention to it. Surprisingly, someone else walked in. Not a woman, a man.
Everyone was surprised to see him, including Alessa. Men aren't allowed in their building except they have something important to do.
The students murmured, among themselves as the man walked fully into the room and stood in front of them.
Alessa tilted her head a little with her expression cold as she stared at the man. He was good-looking, really good-looking.
“Good evening. My name is John and I will be your tutor for today. Olga is busy and she is off the building floors so I will be taking you guys today.” he said with a smile and the students murmured again.
“I saw a record of one of you with a weapon, that seems to be a new one. Who is it?” he asked and reluctantly, they all looked at Alessa.
“Of course, it's always the main character.” he chuckled as he held Alessa’s gaze.
“The best with weapons but the worst in combat,” he said as he walked towards her.
“Lack of balance, strength, and control. Works with emotions and filled with rage,” he said as he got closer to her. He was so close to her that they were only a foot apart.
Alessa didn't feel intimidated, she held his gaze.
“I guess you did your homework,” Alessa muttered and he smiled a little.
“And she is quite funny too,” he muttered. Only Alessa could hear him, the other students couldn't.
He looked away from Alessa and walked back to the middle of the room. Alessa felt eyes on her and she looked in a direction to see Aliyah glaring hard at her. Alessa stared back at her for a few seconds before looking away.
