Third Person’s POV
Elmer chuckled internally, but politely said, “Alpha Archer, you’re too kind.”
Camille, of course, cared more about her plans with Archer.
She was happy that Archer was so invested in this date and didn’t want their private time interrupted either.
She didn’t say anything more, and they left together.
After they walked away, Elmer asked, “Dominic, you know Ms. Haines as well?”
“We’ve met a few times,” Dominic said. “As you know, Alpha Archer is very committed. He has brought Ms. Haines to the company several times.”
So that was it.
Melanie had been mated to Archer for years and knew generally about his companies, but she had never once visited them—
because Archer forbade it.
Yet for Camille, he placed virtually no restrictions.
While Dominic was distracted, Elmer leaned closer to Melanie and whispered, “The combined effect of that scandal last week and the tech expo has helped the Haines Group gain significant connections here in L.A. I heard they’ve secured several big projects recently.”
“Once these projects are finalized, Haines Group will be completely established in L.A. just based on this initial batch of contracts. This progress is what many business people can only dream of, and they pushed it through in just a few days thanks to Archer’s support. A lot of people are seriously jealous.”
Melanie listened, lowering her gaze, and responded, “Mhm.”
After lunch, they talked for a few more hours that afternoon, and the two companies tentatively confirmed a partnership.
Two days later, Melanie and Elmer went to Archer’s tech company, Swift Tech, to continue negotiating the contract.
They were met by Dominic and a core Swift Tech executive named Halsey.
Halsey arrived slightly late.
He entered the conference room and apologized immediately. “I was just in a meeting with Alpha Archer upstairs. Sorry I’m late.

That meant Archer was currently at Swift Tech.
Melanie’s heart stirred. She and Elmer shook Halsey’s hand. “No problem.”
Once Halsey was seated, they continued discussing the contract terms.
A little while later, the door opened.
Melanie and Elmer didn’t pay much attention, assuming it was a regular coworker.
But Dominic and Halsey immediately stood up and greeted the person. “Ms. Haines
”
Melanie looked up. It was Camille.
Elmer also frowned slightly.
Camille glanced at Melanie and told Dominic and Halsey, “I just stopped by to check in. Please carry on with your meeting; don’t

mind me.”
The two executives quickly agreed. They signaled a secretary to pour Camille coffee and set up a chair for her, treating her with warmth and respect, almost like the boss’s wife.
Camille nodded to Elmer. “Mr. Boyd.”
Elmer nodded back. “Ms. Haines.”
Camille took her coffee, sat down in the chair they provided, took a sip, and set the cup down. Seeing the contract nearby, she asked, “May I take a look?”
Halsey smiled. “Of course.”
Seeing Melanie and Elmer look over, Halsey added with a reassuring smile, “Ms. Haines is our boss’s girlfriend. We don’t hide contracts from Ms. Haines when we sign them.”
The implication was clear: she was family, so there were no confidentiality issues.
Elmer nodded. “That’s good to know, Halsey.”
Melanie looked down, remaining silent.
Archer’s study in the pack was always off–limits to her because it contained company secrets–a rule the pack’s beta had specifically conveyed to her the day she moved in.
She had never once stepped into that study.
Yet, Camille could freely examine Archer’s internal company documents and had almost “open access” at Swift.
This showed their relationship was intimate enough to share sensitive information.
Camille knew exactly how Elmer and Melanie would react to her handling the documents–they weren’t just worried about confidentiality; they were measuring the depth of her intimacy with Archer.
She set the document down, looked at Melanie, saw her head down as if avoiding eye contact, and smiled as she lifted her coffee
cup.
During a brief pause while Halsey and Dominic revised a clause, Elmer suddenly asked, “Ms. Haines, are you planning on joining Swift Tech directly?”
Camille set down her cup and looked him straight in the eye. “Archer did ask me to come work at Swift, but I prefer to succeed on my own terms. I don’t want to ‘pull strings,‘ so I declined.”
Before Elmer could reply, Halsey enthusiastically jumped in. “Ms. Haines, you are too humble. Everyone knows how skilled you are in AI. Even with your close relationship with Alpha Archer, we would never think you’re ‘pulling strings‘ if you joined. Please reconsider?”
Camille offered a faint smile. “Maybe later.”
