Chapter 97
Third Person’s POV
She immediately turned to an omega waiter.
“Please add another chair and a place setting.”
Archer showed no reaction to her coldness.
He merely tilted his head slightly, glancing at Marcus beside him.
“Mr. Norman.”
Marcus lifted his gaze, its surface as calm as a windless lake, and offered only a slight nod.
In that instant, two Alpha auras brushed against each other in the air-
No visible pressure, yet those nearby instinctively held their breath.
Archer then shifted his gaze to Melanie.
Their eyes met across the table.
That familiar patchouli scent seemed to creep silently closer, brushing against her apple–scented pheromones, which had yet to fully stabilize. A faint tremor stirred deep within her wolf soul, but she forced it down.
An omega waiter swiftly positioned a chair between her and Marcus.
Archer sat.
Like a cold, immovable stone, he settled into the table’s previously mild atmosphere.
Meanwhile-
Guests on the Willis family’s side immediately spread the news through their private communication channels:
“Marcus Norman is attending Monica’s birthday banquet.”
Within two minutes, the news reached the Cummings family’s banquet hall.
The guests there instantly stirred.
“The Willis family managed to invite someone of that caliber?”
“Wait… isn’t that Elmer, the Boyd family heir, in the photo?”
“And that female wolf beside him… Alpha Chad’s niece?”
“No wonder.”
Someone whispered an analysis:
“She appeared with Elmer at the tech expo before. They seemed quite close. If they really form a bond…”
The speaker paused, their tone turning meaningful..
“The Willis family would gain the protection of two powerful Alpha bloodlines at once.”
The Boyd family itself was a formidable Alpha lineage, while Hilltop Tech was rapidly advancing in both technology and military systems. More importantly-
Marcus Norman had always held high expectations for his student, Elmer.

If the bond were established, it wouldn’t merely be a marriage alliance–it would be a merger of bloodlines and resources.
The atmosphere in the banquet hall instantly grew complicated.
The previously dismissive glances toward the Willis family began quietly shifting.
At the Cummings family’s main table-
Gloria had no interest in these political or technological alliances. She frowned and asked,
“Who is this Marcus? Why is everyone reacting so strongly?”
Camille’s expression remained cool, but her tone carried unmistakable reverence.
“A world–renowned authority in AI. He also holds advisory positions in several countries‘ strategic national projects.”
She paused.
“He’s the mentor I’ve always aspired to study under.”
Gloria froze.
“That impressive?”
She let out a cold snort.
“So that’s why Uncle was so furious–because Melanie cost you the chance to get close to him?”
“Yes.”
Disgust flickered across Gloria’s eyes.
“She’s shameless.”
She frowned again.
“Then why would he attend Monica’s birthday celebration? Are they close?”
“No.” Camille’s tone remained flat. “They barely know each other.”
In her view-
Marcus’s presence was most likely because of Elmer.
Meanwhile-
At another table near the inner hall, Dwight and Edric sat side by side.
Dwight had been eating in silence. When he overheard the neighboring table mention Marcus attending the Willis family’s banquet, his movements noticeably stilled.
He looked up.
“The Willis family… Monica’s birthday banquet?”
Edric nodded and explained,
“It just happens to coincide with the Cummings family’s banquet today. Because of Archer and Camille’s relationship, most of the overlapping guests came here instead.”
He shrugged with a smile.
“I heard the Willis family’s banquet is now nearly three–quarters empty.”

His tone carried undisguised schadenfreude.
“Watching guests leave one by one, powerless to stop them–how pitiful.”
Dwight’s expression shifted slightly.
His knuckles tapped lightly against the tabletop, as though suppressing some emotion.
The next moment, he abruptly stood.
Edric froze.
“What’s wrong?”
Dwight had already turned away.
“I need to make a call.”
Without waiting for a response, he strode off, his pace noticeably faster than usual.
His departure immediately drew attention from the head table.
Camille tilted her head slightly, watching his retreating figure.
“Where did Dwight go?”
“Something came up. He stepped out to take a call,” Edric explained in a low voice.
“Oh…”
Camille’s response was neither warm nor cold. Her fingertips traced the rim of her wine glass.
She asked no further questions. Yet her senses instinctively stretched outward–like a she–wolf patrolling the edge of her territory.
Archer’s chair remained empty.
Time drifted slowly within the banquet hall, steeped in the scent of wine and the murmur of voices.
Daphne glanced at her watch and murmured,
“Camille, Archer still hasn’t arrived? Should we give him a nudge?”
Camille had already considered it. She retrieved her phone and dialed the number etched deep into her memory.
No answer.
She lowered her gaze, her expression unchanged. Only her silver earrings swayed gently as she turned her head.
Tonight’s guest list far exceeded any previous family banquet. Members of the Cummings family moved through the hall, toasting each table to maintain the delicate balance of their social network. The sheer scale of connections gathered at this event was inseparable from Camille’s presence.
Her pheromones spread through the crowd like the scent of sweet orange–warm yet sharp, gentle yet carrying a subtle hint of exclusivity.
As she approached members of the Cummings family, guests rose almost simultaneously.
Small talk rippled through the room.
Glasses clinked softly.
Suddenly, someone asked with a smile,

“Miss Haynes, hasn’t Alpha Archer arrived yet?”
Camille lifted her glass, her lips curving into a poised smile.
“He’s on his way.”
Her tone remained calm.
“He’ll be here shortly.”
No sooner had she spoken than murmurs erupted from a nearby table.
“I just heard… someone said Alpha Archer went to the Willis family instead.”
“The Willis family? Are you serious?”
“Photos are already circulating. See for yourself.”
