The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 12

Ethan took the opportunity to introduce the beautiful woman beside him. "Dr. Foster, this is Lily Summers, Dr. Summers, a member of the Apex lithography research team."

After the two exchanged a polite handshake, the senior colleague offered his praise. "It is truly remarkable for Dr. Summers to achieve so much at such a young age. I heard her contributions ranked first. Without Dr. Summers, rewriting history would have taken several more years."

"You flatter me," Lily smiled politely. "It's all thanks to the hard work of the entire team."

"Look at that, beautiful, capable, and humble," the senior colleague gave a thumbs up.

"I wonder if Dr. Summers has been nominated for the national awards at the end of the year?" the colleague asked, looking at Franklin. "Dr. Foster, you're the head of the judging committee, you can't miss out on such an outstanding candidate."

Seeing the opening, Lily confidently smiled and recommended herself. "Dr. Foster, I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to receive your guidance."

Franklin offered a tight, patronizing smile, and just as the atmosphere grew awkward, he spoke at a leisurely pace. "That is an overstatement. Apex has always relied on independent research. If anything, I bring my students to learn from Apex."

His words sounded polite, but they left Lily unable to hide her embarrassment, her smile faltering.

"You are too modest, Dr. Foster," Ethan chimed in smoothly with an elegant smile. "The judging committee surely has a strict selection process."

Franklin replied, "For a national honor, apart from professional skills, one's character must also pass the test."

The implication was far too obvious; Ethan and Lily both froze in unison.

A bystander quickly tried to smooth things over. "Dr. Foster has always had impeccably high standards. I remember, aside from that exceptionally talented young girl, no one else could easily catch your eye."

Franklin scoffed. "My student had great talent, but terrible judgment. She mistook garbage for treasure, and her future was ruined for it."

With that, his sharp gaze landed directly on Ethan—

Although Ethan was young, he had seen all sorts of situations since childhood and could clearly identify the hostility.

He maintained a smile on his face, stubbornly continuing the conversation. "I wonder if this top student of yours is here today. I'd love to meet her so we can look out for each other in the future. Apex has many projects that are desperate for true talent."

Franklin twitched his lips. "There's no need. With her abilities, Apex might not even be worthy."

He then added, "I have friends waiting over there. Excuse me, everyone."

With that, he turned and walked away.
