The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 125

Silas didn't offer a lengthy explanation, merely stating they had encountered an unexpected incident. Citing his overwhelming workload, he asked his aunt to keep an eye on Alaina for the next few days.

Mrs. Rosemary Rowe didn't press him further. Instead, she issued a rapid-fire list of instructions to Mrs. Gable regarding Alaina's care.

She also summoned the family physician to perform a secondary, comprehensive check-up.

For the next few days, Alaina focused entirely on resting.

Whenever her energy permitted, she refused to ignore her work.

Silas vanished for days on end. Zachary Jenkins was the only connection, dutifully dropping off high-end nutritional supplements every single day under Silas's orders.

Alaina never asked where Silas went.

She constantly reminded herself: she had a mission to complete, and Silas was nothing more than the commanding officer she had to cooperate with.

That reality acted as an invisible, bulletproof barrier between them.

One evening, Mrs. Gable personally brought up a bowl of nutrient-rich soup and found Alaina hunched over her laptop. "Ma'am, why are you working right now?"

"It's fine, I'm feeling much better. I've fallen pretty far behind on my schedule, so I need to catch up," she said with a bright smile, before moving over to the table to eat her meal seriously.

Her current priority was simply to eat well and recover so she could get back to the lab.

Mrs. Gable watched her with a fond smile and gently reminded her, "Lily's birthday is in a few days. Mr. Summers instructed me to make preparations."

Alaina paused in surprise, then nodded. "Thank you for the heads-up, Mrs. Gable. I'll make time to pick out a gift."

"You're very welcome." Mrs. Gable hesitated, then couldn't help but add, "Ma'am, if I may speak out of turn. The last time the family gathered for the cemetery visit, Lily had a terrible falling out with you. Mr. Summers practically banished her from the property, and later, she was forced to stand stubbornly in the pouring rain out in the courtyard."

Alaina had no idea things had escalated that far. She could easily imagine how devastatingly a punishment like that would crush someone as arrogant as Lily.

And because of it, Lily undoubtedly viewed her as public enemy number one.

"Lily is incredibly spoiled and tends to act recklessly on impulse. But peace makes a home prosper. When she returns this time, please try to be the bigger person," Mrs. Gable pleaded softly.
