Alaina was stunned. She had just made that up on the spot, never expecting Silas to actually take it seriously.
"Team Leader," Michelle said, her face practically radiating gossip. "An agreement is an agreement, but don't you want to try and see if you can spark a different kind of chemistry with the Boss?"
Hearing this, Alaina's back went completely numb. She stated sternly, "Wildly shipping people won't do you any good. I'm heading over to Apex Microelectronics shortly. You don't need to come with me."
Michelle said, "Yes, ma'am," and ran out with a laugh. A moment later, she poked her head back in and said mischievously, "Team Leader, if you ever have inappropriate thoughts about the Boss, you have to tell me. I'll help you scheme and strategize. I guarantee I'll make him insanely obsessed with you."
With that, she immediately fled.
Alaina shook her head, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
It was impossible for her to have any inappropriate thoughts about Silas. She didn't have the time for that.
The next second, a message from Logan Foster popped up on her phone.
[Just now, Ethan was carried into the emergency room. Heard from the other doctors that it seems to be a relapse of his old illness.]
[Heaven spares no one, karma comes real fast.]
[I'll let you know if there's any follow-up.]
Alaina froze. She put down her phone without asking for more details.
Ethan's fate no longer had anything to do with her.
...
Meanwhile, at Harrington Memorial Hospital, outside the VVIP ward.
The hospital director walked out and said to Mrs. Harrington, "After the examination, we haven't found anything wrong."
"As for why the symptoms of leg paralysis are appearing, we still have to look at the MRI results. I think it's mostly neurological confusion caused by the General Manager's psychological state."
Mrs. Harrington was silent for a long moment, then smiled. "Thank you for your hard work, Director. Keep the news of the General Manager's hospitalization low-profile."
