"That goes without saying, we're the best of friends," the group echoed in unison.
Ethan secretly twitched the corner of his mouth and looked at Lily. "I have an emergency meeting I can't miss. I need to leave early."
Lily nodded understandingly. "You go ahead. We're about to wrap up anyway."
Ethan nodded and walked out.
With the main character gone, Lily lost interest in chatting. She listlessly said, "Let's call it a night," and stood up to leave first.
The rest of the group also filed out of the private room.
Victoria Somerset, walking in her stilettos, made an excuse to be the last one at the restaurant's entrance.
Seeing the other girls drive off, she asked the valet to call her a cab.
Just then, Ethan stepped out from the shadows. "You didn't drive today, Victoria."
She froze. "Ethan, you haven't left yet? I wasn't feeling well today, so I didn't drive."
Without another word, Ethan grabbed her arm and forcefully pulled her into a quiet corner.
Victoria looked bewildered. "Ethan, what are you..."
Ethan glared at her coldly. "I'm going to ask you some questions, and you're going to answer them. If I even get the sense that you're lying, I'll make you pay."
Victoria froze, neither nodding nor shaking her head.
"Somerset Group has been in a crisis lately. If you don't want me to add fuel to the fire, you'd better answer honestly." Ethan lowered his voice.
Victoria finally nodded reluctantly.
"I heard you and Beatrix talking. Is it true? Was it always Lily bullying Alaina, and not the other way around?"
Victoria's face paled. Her instinct was to deny it, but meeting Ethan's icy stare, she answered honestly. "At first, she just couldn't stand her. With Lily's personality, she never liked seeing anyone doing better than her."
