The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 222

Alaina froze, realizing she had never actually mentioned her cold war with Silas to Michelle.

Michelle rested her chin in her hands, her eyes narrowing into a sly smile. "Don't even try to deny it. When two people are fighting, there's a certain tension in the air. Just like when a woman is in love, she gives off a completely different vibe."

Alaina looked down and smiled softly; the answer was obvious.

"Look at you, glowing like a newlywed but looking completely sleep-deprived. Was it a fierce battle last night?" Michelle teased, going straight for the kill.

Alaina's eyes widened in panic. She nervously glanced at the slightly open office door. "You're a young woman! How can you just say things like that out loud?"

Michelle waved off the concern with an unapologetic grin, sounding entirely justified. "We're all adults here. What's there to be afraid of?"

"Nothing happened between us," Alaina clarified, keeping her voice low. "The heater in his room broke, so we just shared a bed. That's it."

Michelle's face lit up as if she'd discovered a new continent. "You slept in the same bed and nothing happened? Is it a 'you' problem, or a 'him' problem? Did you say no, or did he?"

Flustered by the rapid-fire questions, Alaina's face flushed bright red. "We're just married on paper. Of course... of course we have to respect each other's boundaries."

"No, no, no." Michelle shook her head theatrically. "What does a contract have to do with anything? You're a single man and a single woman, sharing a bed, and you obviously have feelings for each other. You should just let nature take its course."

Leaning in with a sharp, interrogating look, she added, "Answer me honestly. Lying next to a man that delicious, you didn't have a single impure thought?"

Alaina's cheeks burned so hot under the scrutiny that her fingers tightened around the file in her hands. For a long moment, she couldn't form a complete sentence, finally managing, "If you keep talking nonsense, I'm going to bury you under a mountain of data entry."

Michelle laughed and held up her hands in surrender, though the gossipy glint in her eyes didn't fade a bit. Leaning against the desk, she continued to tease, "Okay, okay, I'll stop. But seriously, boss, don't be such a prude. Intimacy is the most natural thing in the world."
