The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 232

As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized how it sounded and hurriedly explained. "I meant... I'll share half my bed. So we can rest."

Silas leaned against the doorframe, a low chuckle rumbling in his throat as he watched a blush spread furiously across her cheeks. He reached out, pulling her into his arms. His fingertips trailed slowly down her forearm, his voice impossibly husky and tender. "No need to explain. I understood perfectly."

Pressed tightly against his chest, Alaina could feel the steady, powerful thumping of his heart. The heat radiating through his shirt made her own heart flutter.

Silas dipped his head to press a kiss to her crown. He tightened his grip, pulling her flush against him, his warm breath sweeping over her hair. "Alaina, I've realized something. I love days like this."

Her heart skipped a beat. She looked up, her nose brushing his jawline, and met his bottomless gaze. "Be specific. What kind of days do you love?"

Silas didn't answer right away. He masked the overwhelming intensity in his eyes with a teasing tone. "I love... watching you blush out of nowhere. I love days filled with this kind of tension."

Alaina frowned. That answer was clearly a joke.

She took two steps back and nodded. "Right."

Seeing her slight pout, Silas reached out and hooked his fingers with hers, slipping them perfectly between the gaps until their hands were intertwined. He pulled her right back into his embrace, his voice dropping into absolute sincerity. "What I love the most is having you in this house."

"For the first time in my life, this house actually feels like a home."

Alaina smiled. "I wasn't actually mad, you know. You don't have to force out sweet words just to coax me."

"I think things are great the way they are too."

"We're just enjoying the romance without the heavy burden of love. As long as we're happy."

With that, she stepped out of his embrace and turned toward her room.

Just as she went in, she popped her head back out to declare, "I haven't agreed to the trip yet, by the way. Don't go booking things behind my back."
