The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 255

The next morning.

Alaina woke up and knocked on Silas's bedroom door.

When there was no answer, she pushed the door open to find the room empty.

She leaned against the doorframe, her heart aching with grievance, tears stinging her eyes.

She recalled his rigid posture when he walked away the night before—like a blade shoved into its sheath, appearing calm on the outside but fractured within.

It wasn't that she didn't understand where he was coming from.

But he hadn't been handed a death sentence yet. Why wouldn't he at least try?

Feeling utterly suffocated, she decided to head out for her follow-up appointment with Logan Foster.

Logan had just been transferred back to the gastroenterology department, so he wasn't particularly busy.

After completing her routine blood work, Logan joined her for a chat in the hospital's cafe.

Listening to her vent, Logan crossed his arms and said, "Neither of you is wrong. You're just coming at it from different perspectives."

Alaina looked at him despondently. "I understand his perspective, but..."

She rested her chin on her hand, hesitating, her chest tight as if a massive boulder was crushing her lungs.

The heat from her mug had long since dissipated, but she hadn't taken a single sip.

Logan watched her quietly, his gaze gentle. "You really care about him this much now, huh?"

She paused. "He's a living, breathing person. We've spent so much time together, we're practically friends. How could I not care? No one wants to die. Look at me—I want to live for a very long time."

Logan chuckled. "Look at it from another angle. If you were Silas, would you want to go from being a powerful, untouchable figure to a specimen locked in a lab for research?"

Alaina rolled her eyes. "The most important thing for a patient shouldn't be their dignity or image. It should be figuring out how to stay alive, right?"

"Right. You're completely right," Logan nodded. "But everyone has the right to choose. A man like Silas has lived a more glorious, meaningful life than anyone else. To him, forty years might be far more magnificent than someone else's eighty. So naturally, his dignity means everything."
