The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 29

Alaina nodded in agreement.

The offer was simply too good to pass up.

Once Ethan and Lily finally left, Alaina tied up some loose ends around the house, called a cab, and headed straight to the Foster residence.

Logan had taken time off work to look after her, and the house felt exactly like the good old days.

When she was twelve, her dad had to travel out of town for long stretches to handle real estate deals, so he had asked Professor Foster to take her in.

The Professor would spend his days in the research labs and his evenings cooking dinner and helping them with their homework.

Family friends used to tease them constantly, saying she should just marry Logan when they grew up to make the arrangement official.

That night, she curled up on the sofa wrapped in a thick blanket.

Logan walked over with a steaming bowl of nauseating medication.

As soon as she pinched her nose and choked it down, he popped a piece of candy into her mouth, treating her exactly like a toddler.

Professor Foster watched them from his armchair, a warm, fatherly smile spreading across his face.

Once the Professor retired to his room, Alaina leaned against Logan's shoulder. "Once my divorce is finalized, you want to get married?"

Logan choked on his own saliva, his eyes bulging in horror. "Are you out of your mind? Did the anesthesia fry your brain? Did you forget I'm..."

How could she forget?

During their teenage years, Logan had quickly realized he wasn't attracted to girls.

He had confided in her before anyone else.

He had been terrified of being mocked and terrified of disappointing his dad.

Since that day, Alaina had fiercely protected him, vowing never to let anyone make a joke at his expense.

Before she had moved abroad, she had brought up the marriage idea again. She was obsessed with her research and had zero interest in romantic drama.

Marrying her gay best friend so they could just grow old as permanent roommates seemed like a flawless plan.
