The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 307

As she spoke, her peripheral vision frantically scanned the room for a good hiding spot for the book.

Seeing Silas straighten up and begin to walk toward her, she had no choice but to awkwardly scoot toward the headboard, desperate to stash the book under a pillow.

A smirk played on Silas's lips; he had already seen right through her. He quickly closed the distance and blocked her path.

She clamped her arms tightly around the book, pressing her back slightly against the soft mattress and shrinking away. Her wide, damp eyes darted around, refusing to meet his gaze—like a flustered little animal guarding a shameful secret.

Silas gazed down at her adorable panic, the amusement in his eyes deepening into a dark, affectionate teasing.

He was usually a master of restraint, but seeing the woman in his arms blushing and flustered sent a wild, intoxicating thrill surging through his chest.

"What are you hiding?" Silas interrogated softly.

"Nothing," Alaina offered a strained smile. "Just a book."

"Let me see."

"No, you can't." Her eyes widened in absolute refusal, her entire body tensing up.

"You really won't show me?" He leaned in, his hot breath brushing against her flushed ear. His voice was low, gravelly, and deliberately teasing. "Give me a good reason."

Alaina shook her head furiously, her long hair swaying over her shoulders. Her voice was barely a whisper, completely failing to mask her embarrassment: "No means no, just... you aren't allowed to look."

She had never seen such explicit depictions in her life. Just glancing at two pages had her heart racing and her skin burning. There was no way she'd let Silas see it.
