His heart, lungs, blood vessels, and all bodily functions showed no hidden lesions.
The sudden high fever from last night was merely a mild viral infection, requiring only a few days of rest for a full recovery with no lingering complications.
There were no underlying diseases, no pathological changes, and certainly no abnormal signs matching the so-called short-lived family curse.
Upon hearing the doctor's assessment, the heavy anxiety that had kept Alaina Rossi on edge all night finally dissipated.
During their conversation, Alaina realized that this doctor, Dr. Thomas Miller, seemed to have known Silas Summers for years.
Catching her puzzled expression, Tom offered an explanation. "Silas and I were classmates in the United States for a few years. I've been trying to convince him for ages to come in for an annual comprehensive health screening."
He shook his head. "He never agreed. Whenever he came over on business, he just dropped by to say hello."
He flashed a teasing smile. "Looks like his new wife is the one making a difference this time. If I'd known she would be so effective, I wouldn't have wasted my breath all those years."
Alaina and Silas exchanged a knowing smile.
"Alright, I can't stand you two showing off your romance in front of me. By the way, did you get the reply?" Tom asked Silas. "Your application has been approved."
"I received it," Silas nodded.
"So..." Tom cast a glance at Alaina. "Now that you're married, do you want to reconsider?"
Hearing this, Alaina looked at Silas in confusion.
"I'll tell her myself," Silas replied to Tom.
Tom patted his shoulder lightly and walked out, giving them some privacy.
Alaina kept her perplexed gaze on Silas. "What was he talking about? What did you apply for?"
A flicker of evasion crossed Silas's eyes before he gently pulled her into an embrace, his palm soothingly stroking her back.
After a long pause, he murmured, "It's nothing. I just applied to donate my body for medical research."
