The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 53

Franklin wasn't angry, replying bluntly, "My apologies for not going with the flow and giving Ms. Summers what she wanted. By my standards, you simply aren't qualified. In fact, you're not even close."

Lily's lips pressed into a thin line, her pride clearly bruised. Forcing a disdainful smirk, she shot back, "The standards of this world are set by people, and they can be changed by people. Whether I meet the standard isn't up to you."

Hearing this, Franklin replied with unwavering calm, "Power can change standards, but it cannot change the truth. Any honor and respect not earned through genuine skill is merely self-deception."

"You..." Lily faltered, the color draining from her face.

"You're absolutely right," Ethan interjected to smooth things over before Lily could explode. "I hope we might have the chance to seek your guidance another time."

"I wouldn't dare offer guidance," Franklin said, his expression turning stern. He glanced at Alaina and Logan. "Both of these kids have endured enough of your 'care.' Moving forward, it's best if we all stay in our own lanes and minimize any interactions."

Ethan showed neither embarrassment nor anger. He simply smiled at Logan. "I wasn't aware Dr. Foster was your son until now. Since we work at the same hospital, we really ought to interact more. Plus, you're Alaina's mentor, an elder to my wife and me. It's only right that we show you proper respect together."

Alaina frowned.

Franklin looked almost impressed by the sheer audacity. He chuckled and said, "There's no need for more interaction. After all, my son is quite busy since being transferred to the ER."

Alaina and Logan exchanged a surprised glance; neither of them had mentioned the ER transfer to their mentor.

"As for Alaina, she doesn't make a habit of fraternizing with her ex-husband," Franklin emphasized.

Alaina didn't say a word, coldly watching Ethan stand there in stunned silence before walking away with Franklin and Logan.

By the time they reached the hotel entrance, the valet was already waiting with their keys, the car idling near the curb.

Just as they were about to get in, Mr. Chambers hurried over. "Dr. Foster, Dr. Rossi, hold on a moment."
