The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 60

Alaina stood paralyzed for a moment before faking her composure. She brushed past him and practically sprinted out of The Rowe Manor.

Silas watched her figure disappear down the hall, his typically rigid posture inexplicably slumping for a fraction of a second.

Zachary rushed over, taking in the shattered glass and chaos. "Boss, this was my oversight. I had no idea your aunt had made contact with Dr. Rossi."

Silas lowered his eyes to the gleaming steak knife in his hand. Tossing it back onto the dining table, he turned and marched out, his face like thunder.

Over the years, Silas had grown entirely fed up with his aunt's relentless blind dates and forced "coincidental" encounters, rarely visiting the estate anymore.

If she hadn't claimed to be bedridden with agony, he never would have shown up today.

He had just reached his car when Julian chased him out. "Silas!"

Julian stopped in front of him. "I just got back, and you're already leaving?"

"I have business to attend to," Silas replied tersely.

"Give me one minute." Julian stared right at him, looking incredibly conflicted. "Mom just pulled me aside and told me to pass along a message. She demanded I repeat it word for word."

"Spit it out," Silas commanded.

Julian mimicked his mother's dramatic tone. "Silas Summers, you cold-blooded, unfilial brat. If you don't cooperate this time, I'm going to find someone who can finally keep you in line. No one cares if you dedicate your entire life to the country or the universe, but I'll go straight to your superiors and see if the government won't step in. We'll see how humiliated you feel then!"

As the words sank in, Silas's eyes darkened to absolute zero.

Julian rested his hand on the car door, trying to play peacemaker. "Silas, honestly..."

"I'll arrange a marriage for you within the month. We can use your wedding to distract Aunt Rosemary and draw her fire," Silas interrupted him.

"Absolutely not," Julian fired back instantly. "When I took over Lockwood Holdings, you explicitly promised me freedom in my marriage. Did you forget?"

Silas stared at him with deadpan severity. "The enemy is employing heavy artillery. It's time for a comrade to step up and take the hit."
