The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 66

She would rather put her faith in human decency one last time, hoping that Ethan wouldn't break his word.

Unable to sleep, she gave up trying and headed into the office bright and early.

She meticulously reviewed the candidate files for her team, one by one.

Zachary had assured her that The Security Administration had run extensive background checks on every single name here.

Feeling a bit strained from reading, she checked the time and realized it was finally the official start of the workday.

She sent a text to her dad. She didn't want this dragging on and wanted to get the dividend agreement signed as quickly as possible.

Arthur didn't reply.

She walked over to the breakroom and brewed herself a soothing cup of herbal tea.

The floor-to-ceiling windows of the breakroom offered a perfect view of The Security Administration's main entrance.

Suddenly, she spotted Silas's car pulling up to the doors. He stepped out and strode into the building with his signature commanding presence.

Alaina consciously took a step back, feeling a wave of inexplicable self-consciousness wash over her.

Being drawn to power was human nature, but the feeling he inspired in her was closer to sheer intimidation.

She returned to her office. A few moments later, there was a knock at the door, and a young woman walked in, introducing herself. "Good morning, Ms. Rossi. I'm Michelle Davis, your new assistant."

She blinked, then smiled politely. "Good morning."

"Here's your breakfast." Michelle offered an insulated bag with a warm smile. "Today I prepared a breakfast sandwich, hard-boiled eggs, and fresh fruit. Tomorrow will be oatmeal and a hot latte. If you have any specific cravings, just let me know in advance, and I'll arrange it."

"Thank you," Alaina said, feeling entirely overwhelmed by the attention. "Really... you don't need to go out of your way to do this for me."

"No need to be polite. It's strictly part of my job description."

Alaina: "..."

"I used to be a registered nurse, and I also hold a nutritionist certification. Zachary gave me very specific instructions. My job is to manage your schedule outside the lab and to make sure your health is closely monitored."

Hearing this, Alaina froze in surprise.

If Zachary gave the instructions, then they had come straight from Silas.
