The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 68

A faint red welt was already blossoming on her wrist, yet her expression remained entirely unbothered.

"You're truly something else. Hiding your true colors so well," Lily sneered. Her words were like blades coated in ice, radiating a bone-chilling hostility.

"You haven't been part of this industry in years. You have zero credentials. What gives you the right to run a high-level research team like this?"

"What filthy little games did you play? Someone like you, with no real talent, doesn't climb the ladder this fast without getting your hands dirty. Go on, enlighten me."

"Did you sleep your way to the top and please the right executive?"

"Or did your pathetic mentor pull some strings to beg for a favor?"

Lily unloaded every ounce of her venom. She kept her voice low, but every syllable was sharp and abrasive, drenched in unfiltered disgust and malice.

"Dr. Summers, calm down," Alaina replied, her tone perfectly smooth. "No matter how terrified you are, you shouldn't make it this obvious."

Lily faltered for a second before stepping directly into her personal space, her voice dripping with contempt. "Enjoy your little power trip while it lasts. Don't come crying when you get exposed for whatever disgusting scheme got you here, and you end up losing everything."

Alaina let out a soft laugh. Her voice was crystal clear and completely unwavering as she fired back. "I may not have hard evidence to reclaim what was stolen from me just yet, but I have the absolute talent to dominate this position."

She paused, locking eyes with the woman in front of her, watching the sheer arrogance in Lily's gaze slowly curdle into shock.

"You better brace yourself. Because soon enough, all that stolen glory you parade around with is going to vanish."

"Are you threatening me?" Lily scoffed dismissively.

"No, it's not a threat," Alaina said, her eyes pinning her in place. "It's a declaration of war."

"..."

"If you have time to stand here and trade insults with me, Dr. Summers, you'd be better off fixing the yield rate on that lithography machine," Alaina said, looking down at her with undisguised pity. "If Apex becomes an international laughingstock, do you really think Silas Summers is going to let you walk away unscathed?"

Dropping that icy warning, she turned on her heel and walked away.

Lily stood frozen in place, looking as if someone had wrapped a hand around her throat. The color drained completely from her face.

She had to find Silas and demand answers herself.
