"Dr. Rossi."
Hearing the familiar voice, she froze awkwardly, turning around to meet Zachary Jenkins's polite smile.
"If you'd follow me upstairs to handle the paperwork, Dr. Rossi," Zachary said.
Alaina nodded, secretly taking a sharp breath.
She had just finalized a divorce downstairs, and now she was heading upstairs to get married.
Even she found the whiplash absurd.
When she reached the upper floor, Silas Summers was already sitting there waiting for her.
Whether it was just her imagination or not, she felt like Silas looked different today.
He wasn't wearing a jacket or a tie, just a remarkably simple white dress shirt.
The fabric was exquisitely fine, sitting flawlessly against his frame as if it had been tailored to perfection. It gave off a crisp, clean sheen that bordered on intimidating.
The collar was casually unbuttoned, highlighting the strong, elegant lines of his neck. His striking features looked even more pronounced against the stark white fabric, giving him an almost ethereal, untouchable aura.
Turning his head to see her, Silas pushed up the frame of his glasses with his slender fingers, standing up like a perfect gentleman to pull out the chair beside him, silently inviting her to sit.
She walked over, feigning composure, and caught a faint whiff of a subtle cologne.
Silas seemed to favor this particular scent.
It wasn't overpowering or aggressive. Just like him, it was composed and aloof, yet possessed an undeniable magnetic pull.
When she spotted the strict dress code requirements for the marriage certificate photo propped on the desk, it suddenly clicked.
Silas had intentionally worn a standard white dress shirt, while she... completely oblivious... was dressed entirely in black.
"I'm so sorry," she hurriedly apologized. "I had no idea I was supposed to wear white. Even though I've technically been married before, I... never actually took the photos."
She started to stand up. "If you don't mind waiting, there has to be a store nearby. I can go buy one right now."
"Unnecessary," Silas said coolly.
Immediately after, two clerks approached and began processing their registration.
