The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 82

"Judging by Rosemary's tone, it didn't sound like she was only staying for two days."

She sat down on the sofa across from him, meeting his icy gaze, and quickly added, "I mean, I'll just spend a few extra days at the lab to save everyone the trouble."

Silas leaned back, offering no comment.

The room suddenly fell so quiet that Alaina couldn't help but glance at the furnishings out of the corner of her eye.

His room was spotless, so minimalist it could almost be described as barren, with even the bedding in cold shades of gray.

"Phone," Silas suddenly prompted.

She handed it over, and he did something on it before handing it back.

She noticed a new app on her screen; tapping it revealed a live feed of the villa's surrounding gardens.

"I've granted you access," Silas said. "Aside from you, me, and Zachary, if anyone enters the villa's perimeter, your phone will notify you immediately."

She nodded, and a second later, her phone pinged with an intrusion alert.

Looking at the silhouette peering up from the first floor, Alaina instantly recognized the maid who had been at Rosemary's side earlier.

She couldn't help but feel a little anxious; acting was one thing, but how had this turned into an espionage thriller?

"No need to be nervous," Silas said calmly. "Just follow my lead."

She nodded, then remembered something. "I heard Lockwood Holdings bought the lot for the Wellness Center, and for several times its actual value. I'll talk to my dad about refunding the difference."

"That won't be necessary," Silas rejected the idea coldly.
