The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 81

Alaina smiled slightly. "Let nature take its course."

Julian nodded. "It seems my worries were unnecessary."

Hearing this, Alaina worried she had bruised his ego and opened her mouth to make amends.

"I mean, you're doing great just as you are," Julian said, beating her to it and clearing up the misunderstanding. He offered a warm smile, added a "Happy wedding," and turned back toward the dining room.

Alaina followed a step behind.

Silas told her, "Get some rest early. I have official business to handle in the study."

She nodded.

Mrs. Rosemary Rowe's face fell. "What official business could possibly require you to abandon your bride on your wedding night? Tomorrow I'm going to deliver your wedding favors to some of your old commanding officers anyway, should I ask them about it while I'm there?"

Silas's expression hardened. The light in his eyes instantly dimmed, replaced by a suffocating frost.

The atmosphere instantly soured.

Zachary stepped in. "Mr. Summers, apologies, but I haven't fully prepared some of the files. I'll make sure they are finished and on your desk for review on time tomorrow."

Silas didn't say anything; he just stood up and walked over to Alaina.

"Mom, let's head back too," Julian said, stepping forward to help her.

Rosemary stood up without his help and instructed softly, "You go on back by yourself. Silas is a newlywed. As the only senior elder in this family, I have to stay here for a while to hold down the fort. It's tradition."

Julian nodded.

"Rosemary, then we..." Alaina asked politely.

"Hurry back to your room," Rosemary said with a beaming smile, grasping her hand tightly again. "I wish you both a house full of kids and endless love."

"Thank you, Rosemary. Good night," Alaina replied, bracing herself. She gave a nod to Julian, then followed Silas.

Walking along the path back to the villa, she frowned as she walked behind Silas, sensing that things had taken a bad turn.

Judging from what Rosemary had just said, did she plan to live at The Summers Estate permanently?

Before signing the agreement, Silas had clearly stated she wouldn't have to live there all the time.
