The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 146

Rebecca was already losing her patience with Shirley’s over-the-top innocence.

“Oh?” Irvin seemed to get a kick out of the drama, smiling as he pressed, “And how exactly did she go down the wrong path? Come on, give me the details.”

Shirley’s energy picked up, like she thought Irvin was about to put Rebecca in her place for her.

“Irvin, you have no idea. Mom and Dad spoiled Rebecca her whole life, so after she left the James family, she just couldn’t take any hardship. When her birth parents finally came looking for her, my parents wanted them to bond, so they sent her back to meet them. But barely any time passed before she snuck right back over here. She even got some strangers to help her get revenge against my mom and me…”

She paused on purpose, keeping a close eye on Irvin’s face. When she saw his expression go serious, she figured her story was working and decided to keep going.

“And just a couple days ago, I literally saw Rebecca meeting up here with some old guy—like, gray hair kind of old. She even got in his car. So when I ran into her today, I wanted to talk her out of making another mistake. I even told her I’d help convince my parents to let her come home. But Rebecca wanted nothing to do with it. She didn’t care at all, and then she ganged up with your restaurant manager to try to throw me out.”

Shirley covered her face and made it look like she was on the verge of sobbing, putting on a completely innocent act.

“I… I really didn’t know what else to do. I just lost it and said all that stuff. I hope you can forgive me for being so out of line.”

This was her classic move. It was the same act she had pulled back when she took Nash away from Rebecca, and she was sure it would work on Irvin too.

Rebecca watched Shirley’s fake tears with an icy, slightly mocking glimmer in her eyes. She didn’t bother to say anything. She was curious to see if Irvin would fall for Shirley’s usual tricks.

Irvin didn’t realize Rebecca was setting him up, but he already knew all about what the James family had done. Watching Shirley act like a wounded princess just made his skin crawl. The playful look on his face disappeared, and his voice turned cold.

“Enough with the act. You’re not ‘fragile’—you’re manipulative, and it’s getting old.”
