The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 150

The two of them jumped to their feet and hurried to the front door.

Shirley had just stepped out of the car. When she saw them waiting, she quickly lowered her head, letting her hair fall over her face. “Mom, Dad, why are you guys still awake?” she mumbled, her voice thick and shaky.

Harriet and Jackson exchanged worried looks as soon as they heard her. Harriet moved in quickly, her heart pounding. “Shirley, what happened? Did Peter do something to you?”

Shirley tried to turn away, but Harriet gently moved her hair aside to see her face. Harriet gasped, her voice sharp with worry and anger. “Who did this to you? Was it Peter?”

Jackson rushed over, his face full of concern. Seeing Shirley’s delicate skin red and swollen, his heart twisted with pain. “Tell me, Shirley, was it Peter? Did he hit you?”

And that was enough to break Shirley. Tears spilled down her cheeks. “Dad, Mom, I’m useless. I didn’t handle Peter well. I let you guys down… please, don’t ask anymore, I really don’t want to talk about it.”

Harriet caught the strange note in her daughter's words and hugged her tighter. “Sweetie, don’t cry. Just tell us what happened. Did someone give you a hard time?”

Shirley forced herself to quiet down, though her face still trembled with injustice and pain. Jackson tried to comfort her, too. “Come on, you can tell us anything. If someone gave you trouble, we’ll take care of it. We promise.”

Shirley wiped her eyes and spoke quietly, “I ran into Rebecca at Nocturne. She knows the owner there, Irvin. Peter was mad that she was making things difficult for me, he tried to stand up for me, but Rebecca used her connection with Irvin and basically chased him away. Then Peter thought our family didn’t respect him, so he… he slapped me.”

Jackson stared at her, stunned. “Wait, Rebecca knows the owner of Nocturne?”

Shirley nodded. “Yeah, even the restaurant manager listens to her.”
