The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 71

When Rebecca and Madonna came downstairs, they spotted Paulina and Sophia by the jewelry counter, practically buzzing as a clerk pulled expensive pieces out of the safe.

“Sophia, are you really buying all this?” Madonna’s brow twitched with worry.

The Russells weren’t exactly struggling, but with Jennifer’s illness, even keeping up with her medication cost a small fortune. They hadn’t managed to get any Ambrosia Vitae, either, and yet here was Sophia, going all out on jewelry like money didn’t matter. Madonna just found it hard to believe.

Sophia, completely missing the concern in Madonna’s voice, just grinned and nodded while sifting through the sparkling options.

“Yeah, of course. The manager said it’s all half-off today. Deals like this are rare, Madonna. You should pick out some things too.”

“Half-off?” Madonna’s eyes widened.

She’d been coming to Lady.M for years and had only seen a sale once or twice, and even then, it was barely twenty percent off. Nothing like this.

Seeing Madonna’s skepticism, Paulina piped up, “It’s legit, Mom. The manager’s right over there. He said anyone whose last name has an R in it gets the deal.”

Rebecca’s mind instantly went to her agent. This had to be their handiwork. The reason was ridiculous, but no one seemed to question it, so she kept quiet.

Of course Madonna wasn’t going to let the chance slip by. She tugged Rebecca closer, beaming. “Rebecca, you didn’t get a good look around before. Come on, let me help you pick some things out.”

There was just no resisting Madonna in shopping mode, so Rebecca let herself be guided to the counter.

Paulina and Sophia glanced over at the clerk behind Rebecca, whose hands were already full with five or six bulging shopping bags. Yet Madonna still wanted more for Rebecca, and both sisters couldn’t help but feel a little envious.

Irvin walked in from outside, tucking his phone away, only to find the women deep in their shopping spree. Boxes were stacked by their feet, and they were pointing out even more pieces for the staff to fetch.

“It’s true, Irvin. I double-checked with the manager,” Paulina said, flashing a diamond butterfly hair clip at him. Her makeup was impeccable, and the shimmering clip on her hair made her look even more flawless. “He actually came up to me first thing and asked if my last name had an R in it, and if it did, I could get the discount. Talk about getting lucky.”

Irvin rubbed his chin, thinking it over. “The way you’re telling it makes it sound like this sale was set up just for you…”

Paulina tried to act humble, but anyone could see she was proud. “That’s not what I meant, Irvin. I just happened to fit the requirements. Pretty weird timing, right?”

Sophia jumped in, “Irvin’s got a point, Paulina. You’re amazing and have so many admirers. Maybe this is some surprise a secret admirer set up for you.”

Rebecca couldn’t hold back a smirk. “You’ve got quite the imagination.”

Sophia bristled, immediately ready to argue. “Come on, Rebecca. Whether you want to admit it or not, Paulina has a ton of admirers. Not just in Cabinda—at Vantage Point University too, she’s a total standout. If someone wanted to arrange a surprise for her, it’s not exactly a stretch.”
